She butts heads with her father Malik, but is very close to him. She can be a little defiant towards her mother and is a bit distant from her sister, Opal.
Personality:
Ruby is a stubborn young woman with a bit of a temper. She's usually able to keep her composure, but she makes it very well known when she's agitated. Her anger tends to first come out as scathing sarcasm before it boils over into any physical violence. This can make her seem like a delinquent, but Ruby's not really a fan of starting trouble; it just sort of... happens. She might seem a bit rude or defensive, but in all honesty, it's simply because she's just bad with people. If she hasn't been riled up, she tends to be more quiet and aloof.
Powers:
Fire Powers
Inherited from her father. Ruby can generate fire from any part of her body, which she uses in conjunction with melee attacks. She can also put her hands together and focus to create a projectile beam of fire, but she can't sustain it for very long.
Martial Expertise
Ruby was trained by her father to fight others at close range. Though she can use her whole body to full effect in combat, she specializes in kicking in particular. She focuses primarily on striking or power moves, though she's also trained in speed and agility.
Weaknesses:
Water can put out her fire, and it's difficult for her to reignite after being doused with water. She's also a melee fighter above all else and is mostly limited to close combat. She might have a long range fire attack, but she can't sustain it for very long without having to recharge her fire power, rendering her unable to use them immediately after. She's also prone to overheating if she uses her fire powers too much or too quickly without rest.
History:
Ruby was the first born in a well off family. Her father, Malik, was a pensive man who worried about her in his own way, so he resolved to ease his fears by teaching her to defend herself. Thus, from a young age, Ruby was taught how to fight. She had even developed one half of her father's powers, manifesting the ability to generate and wield fire from her body. The side effects weren't even as extreme as his own powers', though she did tend to overheat if she exerted herself too much...
Of course, Ruby didn't always get along with her father. There were times where he could be entirely too harsh, pushing her beyond what she was capable of. Ruby's temper could get the better of her, and the two would part after an argument. Yet, in the end the pair would silently make up and return to training. Despite the sweat and tears, Ruby enjoyed it. She could never relate to the socialite culture her mother took part of; she felt she had to lie to people and fake a personality. With her father, she was much more free to speak her mind - even if started quarrels from time to time.
Ruby wasn't exactly prepared to learn that her father had been raised in some sort of secret facility. The family learned this from a man who called himself Skarn. He had showed up one day, demanding Malik return with him to Gaia Labs. Malik naturally refused and fought back. When it became clear the two were evenly matched, Ruby prepared to jump in to aid her father, but unfortunately she was too slow. Skarn instead turned his attention to her younger sister, Opal, grabbing her and knocking her unconscious. The man challenged Malik to retrieve her from Gaia Labs, then made his escape.
Infuriated at her slowness to react and her own inability to protect her sister, Ruby has since resolved to fix her mistake. Even if it wasn't entirely her own fault, her own sister was still in danger! Her father refused her help, justifiably demanding that she stay home for her own safety, but Ruby refused. She's since tagged along with her father in tracking down Opal, and the two are currently in Aster City planning their next move...

- "Wow Lepa, another close combat fire user? Who would've guessed!" In fairness, she is based on one of my first few OCs, potentially making her the blueprint for all of my other fire users...?!
- The last incarnation of her (mid 2000s) used blue fire. I'm not sure if it'll be blue in Aster City though...
