Name:The Sound
Age: Unknown
Race: Angel (Fallen)
Powers: As an angel, The Sound naturally can not die by way of aging, dehydration, starvation or exposure. As a fallen angel however, The Sound can now be killed by mortals, demons or other supernaturals should he sustain enough damage and he is subject to the effects of mortal vices, poisons and diseases.
The Sound has above normal strength and durability on his own but it is greatly enhanced by his Aether-made battle armor. Of course as an Angel, he can deploy his wings and fly at nearly the speed of sound with enough space. He sometimes creates small sonic booms when he nears his destination, hence his name.
Even as a fallen Angel, The Sound retains some capacity to use Aether-magic, which allows him to manipulate both matter and energy, at least on a local scale. This provides him with a great number of powerful magical abilities, though very few of them are capable of inflicting harm on mortals.
With his Aether-magic, limited as it may be, The Sound can utilize Astral Manipulation (to become ethereal in form and allows him to interact with spirits), Aetherkinesis (the projection of divine energy, typically as beams or blasts, but also as constructs such as shields, walls, or weapons, lesser telekinesis), and Spiritual Energy manipulation (allows for such magics that involve healing spells, purification spells, exorcism spells, seances, and other magic concerning purging evil forces).
Though once considered powerful amongst other Angels, The Sound's powers have been significantly reduced in scale. This is because he attempted to and succeeded in using two of the forbidden styles of Aether-magic : Creation and Alchemy. As such a powers are reserved only for Gods, it was forbidden. The Sound's expertise with both of these styles is extremely limited. He originally had good intentions in mind for seeking these powers, but was cast out nonetheless.
The Sound can create a limited amount of simple matter (normally stone) that can only exist temporarily. He can then transmute it into a material more suiting his needs, such as metal, but because his power is not that of a God's, much of the matter is lost in the process. The Sound can not transmute living beings and can only transmute things he himself has created. Typically, matter created by The Sound lasts only seconds at a time.
The Sound can not use any of his Aether-magic on mortals, despite how wicked they might be. He can attempt to use it on the environment, but no spell he is capable of using has the capacity to hurt a living human being free of demonic corruption. On the other hand, Aether magic is especially effective and resistant to demonic magic. It has no special weakness or advantage against spiritual energy/magic, elemental manipulation, etc. Aether-magic and Nether-magic cancel one another out.
The Sound is fairly resistant to many forms of magical attacks, but not all energy attacks, and to an even lesser extent, overwhelming physical attacks. He is not at all suited for close quarters combat with anyone with powers and even his flight speed requires substantial space and a time to get up to speed. While in his Ethereal state, The Sound can not use any other magic and he can be damaged by enemy magic, even demonic energy while using it.
Using Creation and Alchemy on the low level that he can (usually just projectile weapons) is the most taxing of The Sound's abilities, but all of them drain his Mana to some degree. One he runs low, he even loses his enhanced physical strength and resistance. When he's out completely, he can't even fly.
The Sound would be at his biggest disadvantage against a living human or human-hybrid with great speed and/or strength at their disposal, especially one who could use magic or spiritual energy.
The Sound be at his greatest advantage against a demon or against the undead (but not necessarily all supernaturals, like Fairies, Werewolves or Dragons).
As an Angel, The Sound is blessed with Omnilock and Chronolock. In the event that the reality of the mortal World of The Living should change drastically (i.e, a reality warper changes existence, a time traveller changes history), The Sound may yet survive and may even retain his memories. The Sound is also resistant to spells that could potentially stop or slow time.
Date of birth:Unknown (Exiled from The Afterlife 3000 Years Ago)
Home:The Great Beyond
Alliance:Humanity
Relationship: None
Appearance:
Personality: The Sound is not a man for many words, but is known for his honor and dedication to the human race, even at times, against the wishes of his superiors. He is fiercely loyal and compassionate, despite his typical solemn and unchanging expression. He despises above all else cruelty, selfishness and dishonor.
The Sound often times over estimates his own strength, having forgotten how much weaker he had become, even with his limited powers of Creation and Alchemy. He is unflinching, honest, prideful and unapologetic in the slightest. He is somewhat arrogant in that he makes little effort to learn and recognize the hierachy of mortal society and on occasion forces his will on humans when he thinks he knows what's best.
Despite his name, or perhaps in spite of it, The Sound does not speak often, instead preferring to listen or to act. Despite being cast out of the Afterlife, he remains loyal to his superiors, often times completing jobs that are otherwise outside of their 'jurisdiction'. However, now that he is banished, The Sound can never enter into The Afterlife again and is instead doomed to an empty purgatory should he be killed.
Inevitably, The Sound will go to this purgatory. By then, he hopes to have mastered all of the styles of Aether-magic, which would allow him to create a new universe within this Purgatory, fit to his liking. It was this thought that was perceived as heresy and a crime against God that had The Sound banished. The Sound does not regret his actions, but only that he could not avoid detection longer so that he might learn more before being expelled from The Afterlife.
The Sound is very reasonable and pragmatic and not so righteous as to think that all Demons are inherently evil or malicious. He is wary of them, but recognizes that if Gods and Angels of The Afterlife are capable of evil, then Demons are capable of good.
History: The Sound was once a hero amongst angels in the Army of the Afterlife. He fought hundreds of wars across thousands of years in service to the Gods of The Afterlife as one of their Champion Angels. His prowess with Aether-magic was unmatched for his class and his stoic and unwavering loyalty made his quite popular. He was valiant in battle, and even those jealous of his praise and glory had to respect him for his efforts.
Still, The Sound was not satisfied with repelling the Armies of Hell with his Angelic Brethern. He was fascinated with mankind and eagerly watched it's development from the Heavens during it's earliest years. He often times volunteered for Blessing missions where he was allowed to go to Earth to carry out a specific task. Because the population was so small at this point, it was common for him to be deployed to the same locations often. After a while, he soon made friends and even a lover, a strict violation of the terms of his missions that was overlooked due to The Sound's prowess in battle.
Eventually, it came to pass the the Gods intended to purge the earth and start over, revealing that the past century or so had only been for experimental purposes. Outraged, The Sound was the first to speak out against The Gods in several eons. Instead of being purged on the spot, The Sound was forbidden from returning to Earth. It was at this time The Sound began studying on the history of the Fallen Angels, who has been banished from The Afterlife after they rebelled against The Gods. He learned how an Angel who had mastered all of Aether-magic has the power to at least Rival the Gods and
forced him to split reality, creating The Afterlife and Hell. He learned that he World of the Living was essentially neutral ground and that if he could get himself there there would be virtually nothing The Gods could do him so long as he remained there.
Knowing this, The Sound began reseaching several forbidden styles of Aether-magic, specifically Alchemy and Creation, so that he might create and provide the basic essentials mankind needed for them (food, clean water, clean air, etc.) He was soon discovered, confronted, chased and cornered. Of course the sentence for his crime would no doubt be purging. Instead, using his newly found power of Creation, The Sound created his own path to the World of The Living, leaving the Afterlife behind.
To create such a path drained him of his powers, leaving him in a comatose state. In addition, The Demon Gods immediately placed binding spells on him that limited his power to an effort to prevent him from being as powerful in the World of The Living. These seals remain, though The Sound has since learned to stop them from further constricting his power and intends to eventually remove them entirely, though this would require him to learn Demonic Magic. However, doing so would void any claim he has to purgatory and instead doom him to hell.
