Writing prompt:
“Sanctuary,” the child cried running into the library “Nice try,” the guard following after sneered, “but only holy places can grant sanctuary.” The librarians glanced at each other. A small nod The head librarian gave the guard a stern look. “Sanctuary granted”

Clara was happily putting books away humming a happy toon as she did so, her co worker was at the front desk helping costumers. It was a grand library the middle of capital. Many nobles would come here to rent and or just sit and read books. However at night Clara always let commoners in and helped them to learn to read and write. Adults and children alike. She hated how her fellow nobles looked down on commoners and the poor. Suddenly the front door slammed open and a little boy Clara knew came running in tears running down his cheeks. "Sanctuary!!!!!! PLEASE." he cried out. He ran as fast as his little legs could carry him as he ran over to Clara hiding behind her as he clung to her dress crying from fear.
Then a laugh that made Clara's skin crawl echoed in the halls of the Library. " Nice Try.." A pompous looking guard said with a sneer. “But only holy places can grant sanctuary.” He said as he came closer ready to garb the child. Clara glanced over at the other librarian who also glanced back. Clara nodded as she looked at the guard with a stern look as she refused to move. She then started to glow, a power she never wished to show others as it was seen as holy and all she wanted was to work in the library. But she was willing to protect his child from unfair punishment. "Sanctuary is granted you have no power here... Leave." She said firmly as she raised her arm and pointed at the door.
The guard stopped in his tracks as the other librarian just smiled as she got up and opened the door. H-holy.... B-b-but Y-yo" the guard stuttered. Clara started to glow more brightly as she sternly looked at the guard. Without another word the guard then left in a huff, and the other librarian closed the door behind him. " Your secret is blown.. Things wont be easy for you now...." She said with a sad sigh.
Clara smiled as she stopped glowing, she then turned and knelt down and patted the young boy's head. " Yes.. They will surly pressure me to become a Priestess.. But my only desire to work in this library.." Clara replied in a clam tone. "Don't worry little one.. You are safe here now." Clara said with a smile. " Th-thank you WAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The child cried as he clung to Clara who gently hugged him back.
