((This is Izzack's character; I just offered to write up the profile for him >:3))
Name: Elijah Engineer
Alias: Azrael
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Race: Human (Currently sharing body with a Bloodwraith, explained in bio)
Home: Aster City
Alliance: Heliosoft
Alignment: Neutral (Azrael) / Chaotic Evil (Blood Azrael)
Family: Unknown
Friends: Fiona Faire, Blake Devitt
Rivals: Tobasco Fieri
Enemies: ?
Likes: Creating weapons, engineering
Dislikes: Inefficiency, obsolete technology, pomegranates
Job: Weapons Engineer at Heliosoft
Appearance: Azrael is a pale young adult who appears borderline malnourished. His hair is dark and long enough to form bangs on his forehead. His default facial expression is calm and almost tired looking, but it's accompanied by the tiniest, ever so slightest of smiles. He wears a padded jumpsuit for his work, though oddly, it has some faux fur on the trim.
When possessed, Azrael opens up the upper half of his jumpsuit and lets it hang at his back. This reveals that Azrael has a collar and series of magitech brands on his arms and torso to limit the spirit. His skin also noticeably gains a blush of color, while his hair becomes disheveled. His eyes widen and dilate with a feral expression, and he tends to bare his teeth. While much more emotive in this state, most of that emotion is "violence."
Relationship: Azrael defers to Blake, his de facto "boss" at Heliosoft, though this is mostly because Blake wanted to keep tabs on him after Azrael became a host to a violent spirit in a magical ritual. Azrael also views his new coworker Fiona as a second in command to Blake.
Personality:
While Azrael is a prodigy when it comes to engineering, a savant like him comes with many eccentric qualities. He's strangely polite, agreeable, and subordinate by nature. He usually listens to whatever figure has authority over him, with most of his own decisions dictated by practicality and logic over emotion or empathy. This also means he's not the most tactful when it comes to speaking with others. He's very literal with a poor grasp of social cues. Even if his tone is amicable, he's often very blunt or brutally honest, though he honestly has no intention of being insulting; he simply states observations of fact.
Powers:
Weapons Engineering Knowledge
Azrael is an expert in this field, having created and built weaponry since at least his prepubescent years. If requested to create a weapon with specific requirements, it's almost certain he will stop at nothing until he's achieved it. He constantly focuses on refining and improving his work, though it's often to the point where it's detrimental to his health. Though weaponry is his speciality, he's also adept with tech in general and has made several enhancements (and restraints) he uses to augment himself for his work.
"Genesis" (Creation Magic)
Though called a creation power, Azrael cannot create objects out of thin air. Instead, he can simply shape raw materials into small components or parts, which he then uses for the objects he manufactures. He can only make shapes he knows and it seems to be limited to smaller parts. As an example, he cannot use his power to instantly create a gun, but if given scrap metal and tools, he can create many separate components for said gun. He'd then have to put the parts together by hand.
Magitech Exo Brace
Azrael wears a special brace of his own creation, mostly hidden beneath his jumpsuit. It augments Azrael with an extra amount of strength that he uses for manual labor. However, when the violent spirit inside of him takes control of his body, its function magically reverses and becomes a series of restraints meant to limit Blood Azrael's full power. These are generally effective at keeping Blood Azrael in check, though there might be a few exceptions...
Blood Azrael
Azrael currently shares his body with a violent spirit called a Bloodwraith. When it manages to take control of Azrael's body, he becomes crazed and feral and is a threat to anyone around him. Committing or witnessing high aggression or acts of violence make it more likely to take control, while the sight of blood is almost a near guarantee.
When possessed, his strength increases and he gains access to blood magic. He can use his own blood freely, shaping it into melee or short range weapons to fight. He can also use an opponent's blood to create these weapons, but only if they're actively bleeding; he can't control their blood from the inside of their bodies.
Weaknesses:
Azrael himself does not fight in his normal form. If the Bloodwraith fights or commits feats of strength, it puts a strain on Azrael's body, making him fatigued or even possibly injured once he's in control again. This is not helped by the fact that Azrael is constantly borderline malnourished, simply because he neglects to feed himself. High adrenaline or the sight of blood is also very likely to activate his possession, making him a hazard to himself and others around him. The Bloodwraith also seems more susceptible to the cold, as it slows down blood flow.
History:
The details of Azrael's past are shrouded in mystery. Born under the name Elijah, he was separated from his parents at a young age, though the circumstances leading up to the event are unclear. What most likely followed was Elijah's employment into... less than legal labor. A mere child at the time, he quickly learned it was easier to be obedient than to question authority, shaping his oddly agreeable personality.
What made Elijah stand out was his simple magical ability to shape and create parts out of existing materials. This extra efficiency made him a very valuable laborer, and he eventually found himself employed by a manufacturer who focused his creation ability on constructing weaponry. Elijah easily adapted to his new field with near startling enthusiasm. In fact, swiftly developing his expertise in such a deadly market earned him the nickname Azrael, the Angel of Death.
How he ended up at his current job at Heliosoft was also unclear. The company had gained Azrael by acquiring his previous workplace, but the legality of his own employment was always questionable. A weapons expert at a mere 12 years old, Azrael had not known anything outside of his life of labor, so he was content to join Heliosoft so long as he could continue his work in engineering.
About three years later, Blake Devitt saw Azrael's obedience as the perfect control group for a magical ritual he'd begun developing. The result: a violent, feral spirit took up residence in Azrael's body. Triggered by blood and aggression, the possessed Azrael attacked, forcing Blake to subdue him. Not wanting to take any chances of being found out about his unsanctioned ritual or Azrael's possession, Blake took it upon himself to keep a close eye on Azrael from that point on. Azrael himself was slightly annoyed at the loss of productivity, viewing his periodic possession as an inconvenience more than anything, but he easily accepted Blake as his new boss.
It's now been a decade since the incident. Though the spirit still lives within his body, Azrael has had more than enough time to develop countless failsafes and countermeasures to restrain it. While they're incredibly effective, the spirit has still managed to weasel its way to the surface and escape several times. Perhaps the next time will be different...? After all, Blake recently mentioned something about showing around a new employee transferring over from a different department...
Anything else:
- Azrael either had no surname or couldn't remember it, so he came up with a new one himself. He picked "Engineer" because he reasoned it was logical for it to be his profession.
- Blood Azrael isn't actually evil per se; it's more of a barbaric creature with a beastlike mentality, but it isn't inherently evil. Blake and the others have yet to learn this, however.
- Azrael normally wears a jumpsuit. Blood Azrael rips open the upper half when in control.
- Azrael's fur collar is meant to conceal the magitech collar used to help control the Bloodwraith within him. Azrael was against the fur collar for safety reasons initially, but Blake was able to convince him to wear it due to keeping Azrael's workspace cold to help lower the chance of him bleeding and to slow the wraith down if it possessed him.
