Name: Seth Adder
Aliases: Evan Troy; Blackout
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (Appears to be early 20s?)
Race: Data (Formerly Human)
Home: The Internet
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Friends: None
Enemies: Dr. Theodore Klaus & his robots
Likes: Playing games, snakes
Dislikes: Being cornered, losing his composure, cats
Relationship: None; whatever family he had believes him to be dead. Seth himself also has animosity towards the people of the facility he used to work at, especially Dr. Theodore Klaus.
Personality:
When appearing as a hologram or using an android body, Seth appears to maintain a quiet, timid demeanor, similar to how he originally was as a human. Once he starts to trust others, he becomes much more casual and even playful, revealing himself to be nothing more than a computer hobbyist with a love for gaming. He tends to smile more often than not and seems to be rather personable when he opens up. Though he sometimes enjoys talking trash in games, he claims to hate fighting and will avoid physical conflict whenever possible.
In truth, he's terribly manipulative and spends much of his time scheming, though he's not so quick to reveal this side of himself. Having spent much of his human life being looked down upon, Seth's power and ultimate freedom had radically changed him for the worse. Years of terrible treatment has led him to despise everyone else, viewing them as beneath him. He delights in nothing more than making others suffer. Even if on the losing side of a fight or conflict, he will take every opportunity he can get to upset his target. He's more than happy to try and kill those who get in his way, but if given the time, he'd rather sabotage someone's life than killing them outright.
Since he hinges most of his interactions on long term planning, Seth gets very irritated when things don't go his way. Whether it means disrupting his plotting or even just bad weather on what was supposed to be a nice day, it angers him all the same. Particular meddling in his plans is a surefire way to set him off and an easy way for him to set his sights on ruining someone's life.
Powers:
Digitization:
He has the ability to digitize himself and enter the internet. He managed to use this ability to escape certain death, though he lost his body in the process. He now only exists as a digital entity and his consciousness managed to survive on the internet for at least 15 years. He's learned how to use this power to travel to any place in the world with an internet connection. He can also use this to enter electronic devices, but only if they're connected to the internet in some way. If deleted, he's left pieces of himself across the internet, so he can always regenerate in the end - even if it'll take some time.
Android Body & Electric Channeling:
A durable, artificial body built to resemble Seth's original appearance, he uses it to travel around in the physical world. The body is made from a light alloy that makes it easy to move around in. It can withstand most attacks that would severely injure a normal human, like blunt force or gunfire, though sharp and cutting weapons seem to be most effective against him. Seth himself cannot feel pain in his android body, though he'd rather avoid physical conflict all together to make maintenance on his body easier. That said, if he does fight, he seems to be fond of using knives.
His body also comes with a means of generating black and green electricity used for attacking. It seems to be slightly malleable, being able to take the vague form of a rope or chain. Of course, if his body is doused with water, he can't use electricity without damaging his body.
Viral Control:
Honing his powers on the internet allowed him to manifest creatures that people interpret as a virus. In truth, Seth can use bits of his own data and generate it into a sentient extension of himself. Though he doesn't have full control over them, he can powerfully suggest them into doing what he wants. The viral beings themselves usually take on the form of a monster, but will shift to the form of the robot it's possessing before taking it over. Seth usually prefers to control one or two robots at a time; spreading himself thin is doable but his power of suggestion isn't as strong compared to focusing all of his energy on one robot.
Weaknesses:
As a digital entity, he's basically been barred from the physical world and can only walk around if he uses an android body. (He could theoretically take over any low intelligence robot, but he'd prefer a humanoid body that would blend into society.) He also needs an internet connection to travel and access all the information he needs. He can be trapped in a device if there's no internet access for him to escape. This can be used to contain him or even transport him in a portable data stick. Antivirus programs can restrain him, though with enough studying and planning, he can figure out how to work his way around them.
He can also be deleted like a file, though doing this will automatically start regenerating a new copy of himself somewhere else on the internet. He will not remember what specifically happened if he's deleted after losing connection to the internet, but he usually has a basic idea of what happened; after all, he's lived online for years and he's had more than his fair share of deletions.
Because he also uses pieces of himself to create his viruses, he can't control too many of them at once without using up most of his own data. It's possible, but harder to control with less of his own consciousness. This also means he's typically never at full power due to leaving some of his own fragments on the internet.
History:
Seth was an intelligent young man who worked in the IT Department of a research facility. Though brilliant, he was never part of the inner circle and was always dismissed, even if he offered good ideas and solutions. Others simply believed he was strange and disregarded him to the point where Seth himself doubted his own intelligence and self worth.
He was annoyed with everyone at his job, particularly Theodore Klaus, who turned out to be as insufferable as the rumors said. Seth found this out the hard way when he was called to help him fix a computer problem; Dr. Klaus spent most of the time insisting on his own solutions and attempted to shoo him away, saying a few things that belittled Seth in the process. Seth was able to hold his tongue but found himself fuming as he left. Releasing his anger in private, his feelings triggered the awakening of his power of digitization.
He spent a year slowly discovering and testing the ins and outs of his powers. Seth mostly used it to prey on his coworkers, prying into their private lives and letting the tiniest bits of information slip and cause chain reactions. It amused Seth to get back at the people who treated him like nothing. Once he'd gotten the hang of his secret deception, Seth decided to become more daring. He used his abilities to infiltrate the facility's own data and files, eventually discovering Dr. Klaus' secrets of the Eteranlite. Excited to have access to such a thing, Seth studied the files and properties himself.
Through his studies, Seth learned of a terrible exploit of the Synthetic Eternium and how dangerous it could be to the human population. The facility itself had been testing the energy source on a small town they'd built nearby, home to many of the facility's own employees. If the energy surged on itself, it could cause anything connected to it to explode. He tried to warn someone, anyone about it, but of course he was met with indifference. One bad day later, Seth reconsidered his stance and decided: why not just show off the flaw itself? If they wouldn't listen to reason, they would listen to violence. No one cared about what he had to say anyway, and with his ability to digitize, he was untouchable.
With months of preparing, Seth finally made his debut under the alias "Blackout." Holding the nearby test town hostage, he bragged about the synthetic Eternium's destructive potential, highly implying that Dr. Klaus himself was responsible for giving him the information for his takeover. Dr. Klaus eventually reversed the threat however, causing the energy source to catch Seth in an explosion. Seth managed to escape into the internet, but later found out he'd lost his body to the flames. Realizing he couldn't materialize in the physical world without his body, Seth could only stalk Dr. Klaus from the internet and plot his revenge to somehow kill him. Unfortunately for him, the doctor managed to leave his sight and disappear into hiding, taking the Eternalite with him for good measure.
Seth spent years trying to track down Dr. Klaus or the Eternalite, believing he could use the latter to power a powerful android body for himself. He eventually settled in the technologically advanced Starlight City, finding a place to secretly build himself a body. Eventually reaching a dead end in his search, he then used his powers to wreak havoc out of frustration and boredom. He loved to particularly toy with the Starlight Guard, a force meant to cull mechanical threats; most of which were caused by Seth himself. When Seth learned one of the guards, Quattuor, had a piece of Eternalite in him, he made it his personal mission to steal his piece. This plan changed when Seth realized Quattuor could potentially lead him to the true source: the Eteranlite, and by extension, Dr. Klaus.
Rather than killing Quattuor outright, Seth decided to orchestrate a particularly nasty virus outbreak within the Starlight Guard, forcing Quattuor to kill some of his closest allies. Amused with his trauma, Seth continued to torment the android until he learned about Dr. Klaus' last known location being close to Aster City. Wanting to lure Quattuor closer to the doctor, Seth caused just enough problems in Aster City to convince Quattuor to go there in search of Dr. Klaus. When Quattuor left for the city, Seth followed.
Now established in Aster City, Seth has continued to send out low viral threats to get a feeling for the city. He hopes to one day find the location of the original piece of the Eternalite and use it to fuel a special android body he's been working on...
Anything else:
- When trying to blend in with society, he puts on a timid, unsuspecting look. He usually has his bangs over his eyes.
