She may not be able to read minds but she can sure move things with her mind, however depending on the objects size and weight she has to focus harder to move it, kinda like when your trying to lift something big and heavy with your arms so only way for her to be able to move such objects she has to train her mind to get stronger and if she tries to move something that's too heavy she will give herself a massive headache and make her nose bleed a little bit.

Amanda still carries that doll her mom bought for her to serve as a memento of the happy times she had before she discovered her powers.

Amanda is a sweet girl who also tends to be shy around others since a lot of people in the high school don't like people with super powers so she tends to keep to herself and tries to keep her powers secret from everyone and no one really approaches her because they think she's a complete weirdo for always sitting in a corner away from everyone, heck she doesn't even take part in activities that demand her to interact with crowds of people and if that does happen she doesn't bother to show up and will just head to the park until school's over. Then she will return to her foster home to hide in her room and play online games all day where she feels safe and allows herself to be a little more open.
History:
Amanda's parents weren't born with powers so no one suspected that she'd have powers until it was revealed when she was just a five year old. She was at a store with her Mother while her father was at home and Amanda wanted a toy that she couldn't reach so she looked at her mother and said "Mommy can I have this dolly?" as she reached up trying to get the doll and when she wished the doll would fly down to her hands well that was exactly what happened but just being a child who didn't know better and didn't pay any mind to this weird thing that just happened and her mother had just turned around just in time to see that happen but managed to keep herself from freaking out and nervously said "s..sure dear..." and reluctantly bought her the doll real quick and left the store hoping no one saw that.
However they didn't go home, no her mom instead texted her husband about what she just saw their daughter do and told him she was going to leave Amanda at a Foster Home and he agreed with her decision but kept the poor little girl out of the loop so Amanda was confused as to why they pulled up to a strange building and took her inside and this time bluntly told them that she couldn't take care of Amanda anymore and this scared Amanda as it now clicked that she was going to be left behind and she started pulling on her mother's arm "no! mom don't leave me here! I'll be good a girl I promise!! I'm sorry I made the dolly float off the top shelf!!" she yelled as her mother pulled her hand free and signed the papers and the man behind the counter seemed to be shocked to hear that and even he protested at the reason why the mother was doing this.
However the Mother didn't listen to either of them and turned a heel to walk out of the building despite of Amanda's cries and she used her powers to keep the doors closed and the mother glared at her daughter "LET GO OF THE DOOR AMANDA!!" she yelled with anger but Amanda yelled while shaking her head NO!! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME HERE MOMMA PLEASE, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY!! but alas since she's just a child and still freshly new to her powers her head hurt as her mother struggled to open the door and Amanda screamed in pain as she holds her head and her nose started to bleed when she finally let go of the door only to accidentally made her mom aggressively swing the door open as if it was never stopped by anything and her mother's momentum made her go flying out the door and quite literally eat pavement as she fell and did a face plant but only to quickly get up cover her scraped face "DAMN YOU AMANDA!!" she yelled as she ran back to her car an left.
All the while the man behind the counter was already out from behind the counter hugging Amanda tightly, trying to console her and used a napkin to clean the blood from her nose and ever since then she spent her life moving place to place living with different foster parents and so far no one has wanted to officially adopt her because of her powers thus is the reason why she's so distant from everyone around her.
