Mostly ideas I've talked about or developed with Izzack.
Serious/Dramatic Plots
Major Character Arcs
Slithering Shadows - A (painful) relationship development arc for Daniel and Vivi.
Vivi befriends a man known as Stephan Marizpan. Daniel tries to befriend him, but Marizpan is nothing but condescending to him; he quickly gets on Daniel's bad side. Vivi's personality also seems to change the closer she gets to Marzipan, and Daniel fails to recognize his jealousy and own feelings for Vivi. After several run ins with a dangerous supervillain, Daniel realizes he and Marzipan are one and the same. (As an example, Daniel had been bragging about his fighting techniques to Marzipan, and the villain had anticipated all of them perfectly.) Daniel ultimately defeats Marzipan under his villain persona.
Vivi herself seems to have fallen for Marzipan. She takes Marzipan's side over Daniel's, driving a wedge in their friendship. Her personality from a grumpy fighter transitions into a giggling school girl under Marzipan's flattery. Despite this, she still feels something is off and is reluctant to fully commit to Marzipan, causing relationship problems of their own. The day Daniel defeats his supervillain persona is the same day they were to go on a special date, so she returns home upset at being stood up. Weighed down by thoughts of not being good enough, Daniel consoles her in spite of everything. She realizes Marzipan's bad influence as a shallow person and eventually makes up with Daniel.
Daniel's Rogue's Gallery - Enemies for Daniel?!
After the defeat of Marzipan, several new threats seem to rise up to take on Daniel. They may or may not have been hired by Marzipan himself. Characters are still ideas in progress.
- Ryan DeValera: A bounty hunter hired by Marzipan to capture Daniel. Ryan himself is pretty professional, probably doesn't know what Marzipan is up to. Pretty quick to turn on him and become friends with Daniel.
- The Nerd: Named Dexter, nicknamed "Poin" by Daniel. A genius and stereotypical nerd with an eccentric vocabulary and speech pattern, he's highly frustrated at "meatheads" like Daniel. He fights Daniel by trapping him in escape rooms or giving him puzzles that must be solved, otherwise he may face intense pain or death. Daniel must combat him with intelligence and wit.
Later on, Daniel finds his secret lair, which turns out to be his mother's house. Daniel learns from Dexter's mother that her son is "really a nice boy who's just lonely." She shows off his science projects which Daniel realizes were the basis for several of his own deadly traps. A sitcom ensues as Dexter's mother invites Daniel to stay for dinner, and Dexter has to remain on his best behavior while seething at Daniel the entire time. His mother honestly thinks Daniel is one of his friends (especially with how much Dexter's talked about him), and Daniel plays along much to Dexter's embarrassment. It ends with Dexter tentatively accepting Daniel's offers at friendship.
- The Brute: The big dumb brawn cliche. Not sure what he is; perhaps an alien or elemental? The character needs to have poor communication to substitute the fact that he's not evil or anything: he just seems interested in fighting. Since he can't communicate or understand well, he endangers the public because he understands that it gets Daniel to fight him. Once Daniel figures this out, he's able to convince the creature to simply ask him for fights. If this isn't an option, he'll at least figure out a way to reduce collateral damage or find something to keep him happy or occupied.
- The Professional: A literal assassin hired by Marzipan to kill Daniel. He's never failed a mission... until Daniel. He starts out as a calm and collected professional, but as his continued attempts fail, he slowly descends into obsessive madness. The scenarios comically play out like a cartoon where Daniel manages to (unknowingly?) avoid danger at every turn.
- The Femme Fatale: An attractive, dangerous woman with the power of poisons.
She works closely with Marzipan. She tries to seduce Daniel but is probably the most ineffective of Daniel's enemies because he's gotten together with Vivi at this point and Daniel is no cheater lmao.
There might be others... eventually...
Blue Inferno - Development for Casey Calhoun, though these are bare notes.
A runaway kid, former street rat, former John patient and current gang leader. He doesn't think much of himself, but he's happy where he is and content with what he has. His encounters with Taylor Ackart start to change his easy going stability as Casey's dragged into more and more trouble than it's worth. Perhaps events inspire him to be a bit more heroic...
He eventually confronts Sean and John at some points, reprimanding the former and spitting venom at the latter. Both men have equally biting counterpoints of their own. Much angst and suffering will be had.
At the very least, he eventually ends up with Chiyoko Uzuki.
Fallen Lion - A development arc for Leonardo Aurelius. Still developing.
Leo is the son of Alexander Aurelius, the CEO of Heliosoft. He's being tested by his father by being put in charge of the Heliosoft branch in Aster City. Raised with a might makes right attitude, Leo is arrogant, prideful and an overall jerk. Over time, Leo suffers a string of embarrassing defeats and blunders, like being one upped by the small gang of Ammo Clan and having important, top secret company tech stolen by, say, Yolette.
The final straw is when something happens that causes public outrage; potentially something that may have even framed him (disgruntled employees, perhaps?) Either way, Alexander vows to have Leo removed from Heliosoft, but the public outrage and hatred for Leo is so strong that he himself goes into hiding. It's most likely caused by a combination of danger he's in and his father's own exiling of him.
He ends up running into Katsurou, who at this point has figured out Leo's affiliation with the company that killed his master. Leo at this point is tired and weakened from living on the run and thus cannot face Katsurou on even ground. Izzack ends up being the one to save him, though it's an ironic mirror to when they first met in Intro to Zoology, as Leo tried to kill Izzack. Izzack however firmly believes it's still wrong to attack someone vulnerable and ends up protecting Leo that way.
The rest is a work in progress, but Leo learns lessons after being humbled, becoming closer to what his father was really trying to teach him.
Feral Wolf - A development arc for Katsurou Shirogane. Nothing set in stone.
Katsurou is a wandering swordsman who desires to find Daedalus, the corporation that killed his master and many of his village. He's earned a reputation for helping those who can't defend themselves. Though he has a polite demeanor, he harbors a lot of anger and rage beneath the surface and will kill without mercy if he truly believes it to be just. He's already shown this in [Dead in his Tracks], where he killed a man simply for being a Daedalus employee.
As Katsurou ventures closer to the truth, he descends into a blind obsession, killing indiscriminately so long as he sees his target as evil. When he learns that Daedalus is owned by Heliosoft, he targets that company. He has no hand in Leo's eventual downfall stated above, but when Katsurou finds him weakened in the streets, he is more than eager to kill him. This intersection mirrors their first encounter in Intro to Zoology, but their roles have since reversed.
The rest is a work in progress, but the idea is Katsurou becomes what he's always hated: a powerful person who abuses their power. He specifically becomes a zealot who uses justice as a flimsy excuse to swing his blade about.
Specific story/roleplay ideas
Haunted by History - A roleplay or story where the demons of Casey's past come back in the middle of a history lesson.
Riki Ohara is a tutor. He's been helping a kid with history work, so Riki's been relaying fun facts about the Romans to his friends. He eventually gets around to describing the Roman army's use of decimation, where they would line up their army and select every 10th person and have the others beat them to death. It was used sparingly, but Ricky remarks how messed up it is. He expresses relief that Casey would never do such a thing to Ammo Clan. Casey seems quiet and excuses himself. The OHaras assume he's deeply disturbed at the thought of doing something so heartless, but in truth, Casey's come to the sickening realization that he'd participated in something similar while working under John.
Death Arcana - Swtich decides to face the past and learn the truth of what happened to his best friend.
Ammo Clan's founder and former leader, Aedan Devitt, went missing about 2-3 years ago. Of all of the gang's members, Switch had known him the longest. He's spent years in denial, bottling up his feelings, but he's decided its time to lay his fears to rest. He ends up paying detective Kaleo Kasser a visit, grimly hoping she could find any leads on a cold trail. What Switch doesn't know is that she has a very easy way to know whether or not Aedan's still alive...
