(Edited image until I draw my own image for him lol)
Name: Dr. Theodore Klaus
Gender: Male
Age: ~55+
Race: Human
Date of birth: Dec or Jan, 19XX
Home: Island base off the coast of Aster City
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral?
Alliance: None; formerly affiliated with a research facility
Family: His sons: Jedan, Zwei, Terry, Quattuor, and Denomi
Friends: None
Rivals: None
Enemies: Unknown
Likes: Attempting to find scientific breakthroughs; animals; reality dating shows and Hallmark movies
Dislikes: Untidiness; loneliness
Relationships:
Though his intentions were good, his tendency to be pushy meant he never interacted with others very well. In recent years, he only has his own creations for company, considering the Eterna Units as his sons. Their relationships to him all vary, though Jedan and Denomi seem to be closest to him.
Personality:
A once renowned scientist who always set his eyes on working towards a better future, even if it meant going against orders and getting himself in trouble. Though he always meant well, he was always insistent upon his ideas. His colleagues always found him insufferable; it didn't help that he always found great difficulty in working with others as a team. After being disgraced, he became rather lonely and easily depressed. He seems to care deeply about what others think of him, though he doesn't realize it. Perhaps that's why he's been so obsessed with contributing something of note to help humanity; sure, he wants people to thrive, but maybe he also secretly wishes to be accepted for once in his lifetime.
Powers:
Machine Engineering & Robotics:
Dr. Klaus' specialization in this field allows him to construct various types of machinery. Due to his self imposed isolation, this is mostly used for practical means, such as constantly tweaking his fortress' living space or creating small, security scout bots to explore the surrounding area outside. If anything, most of his major efforts have gone into building the androids he considers his children.
Eternalite Expertise:
He is the only scientist who has extensively researched the properties of the enigmatic space rock known as the Eternalite, and thus is the sole expert on its power. Its raw element is an excellent power source, though he fears it falling into the wrong hands. As such, he keeps his studies (as well as the Eternalite) to himself.
Weaknesses:
He is but a simple man. He may be intelligent, but he would never face a foe head on. He is the type to flee or take a defensive position while relying on his technology or others for protection. He does have the potential to create battle mechs for his own self defense, but he's never made a serious attempt due to his safety in isolation and thus finding no need. In short: if caught alone and off guard, he'd be as good as dead.
History:
Dr. Klaus was most famously remembered for discovering the Eternalite, a small, mysterious meteorite made up of an unknown, interstellar element. Though his superior desired further study, Dr. Klaus recognized the element's potential as an alternative power source and immediately set to work replicating a synthetic version of it. He was scolded by his employers, but an investor took interest in his project and granted them funding. Theodore's boss had no choice but to begrudgingly allow him to continue his work.
Once the project proved to be successful, the facility enjoyed the fruits of his labor: a small town powered almost entirely by the synthetic Eternium. The town was settled nearby, serving as residence for most of the facility's researchers as well as a small scale test of the energy in use. If the synthetic Eternium had no major problems arise within 5 to 10 years, then it would be deemed safe for the general population. Of course, the first few years had its own handful of problems, but each of them was met with resolutions that only improved the synthetic Eternium's use. This allowed the town to focus on developing the energy's efficiency with minimal problems.
It was the town's 5 year milestone when a crisis struck: A self proclaimed supervillain announced he held the town hostage. He declared that a certain scientist had sold him the secrets of synthetic Eternium, revealing it had a destructive flaw. Using a second source of the energy would allow one to "light a fuse" within the main power source. This would create a dangerous power surge, potentially creating an explosion in all areas that used the energy.
Dr. Klaus was immediately suspected as the traitorous scientist. After all, he was known for keeping his findings close to his chest, and his colleagues thought it in character for him to hide such a glaring flaw from them. In truth, Dr. Klaus was horrified - he had no knowledge of the dangerous exploit and worked quickly to combat the threat. In the end, he had used the discovery against the villain himself, injuring him with a synthetic Eternium surge and allowing him to be captured by authorities.
Though the crisis was averted thanks to him, Dr. Klaus bore the brunt of the blame, if not all of it. There was no solid proof that he was responsible for the information leak, but all motives pointed to him. Officially, he was innocent; no former trial took place, but the facility sought to bring him down regardless. The funding was stopped, the Eternium project was ended and Dr. Klaus found himself disgraced by the scientific community. His greatest work and hope for the future was destroyed.
Depressed by the turn of events, Dr. Klaus took the carefully guarded Eternalite and went into hiding. If the others believed the element to be so dangerous, then perhaps it would be better that they no longer had access to it at all. His disappearance and theft raised further suspicion, but with no more incidents of synthetic Eternium turning up, Dr. Klaus was eventually forgotten.
But the Eternalite was Dr. Klaus' legacy, and at the very least, he had to ensure that it would be used for good. To avoid crushing loneliness from overtaking him, he focused entirely on this fact. The result was a series of creations he would call his family, with each one containing a shard of the Eternalite: Jedan, a laidback android with time altering powers; Zwei, a dark magic android with destructive potential; Teri, a genetically engineered human with heightened physical abilities; Quattuor, an emotional android with specialized swordsmanship skills; and Denomi, a disciplined android with highly refined swordsmanship and combat skills in general.
When Quattuor found out about his father's past, he misunderstood his intentions and believed him to be evil. Disgusted at the thought of being viewed as nothing more than an experiment for a dangerous power source, he took Teri and left. Again, Dr. Klaus was hurt; he had created Quattuor in hopes of fighting for a better future. Thankfully, encouragement from Jedan and Zwei led the doctor to try again. This led to the eventual creation of Denomi, who was tasked with the same mission as Quattuor. As such, Denomi would venture out into Aster City, quietly and discreetly assisting those who would need it.
Ironically, Denomi would also take a path similar to his father. He had always helped those in need, but his silence and admittedly intimidating aura didn't do him many favors. It only took one incident - one misunderstanding - for Denomi to be perceived as a criminal. When the news broke, Dr. Klaus despaired, frustrated with his constant curse of evil. That was when Denomi suggested to go with the flow - why not use the negative publicity to encourage the rise of others to do good? Dr. Klaus was reluctant, but trusted him to carry out said task. After all, if this kept happening... perhaps it was simply easier to accept it.
Currently, Dr. Klaus remains holed up in his fortress, located on a small island off the coast of Aster City. Jedan, Zwei and Denomi live with him, while Quattuor and Teri live in the city itself, estranged from their father. The doctor himself constantly monitors the city, part patrolling, part planning, and all hoping that one day something good will come of it.
