"I...see." Izzack managed. That was, well, that was a rather sad story. Suddenly Izzack wasn't so sure he'd like to find out if this Hal guy was his dad. He'd rather...not be the son of an uncaring man like that. "Well, uh...better to know than not...right?" he offered, though he wasn't too sure if he actually meant it, considering the turmoil in his own head about the situation.
As it was, the idea of the bakery was somehow even more enticing now to Izzack. It offered food, yes, but now it also offered a change in subject. "This bakery...do you go there often?" he asked. Well, if anything, the conversation's heavy subject manner was doing wonders for his ability to talk to strangers! Every cloud did have its silver lining, after all. "Are they...nice?"

Better knowing his name huh? Mona had never really thought about it that way as she had no desire to meet the man, only useful thing knowing his name is that any O'Connor's she may met might be blood related. But the odds of that happening where slim and that a blood test would be needed. There was no way she was going to ask every O'Conner she met if they would take a blood test just no way that was going to happen. When Izzack asked about the bakery Mona welcomed the change of subject, " I go there pretty much everyday, I work there as a baker and when needed work as a cashier " Mona replied. " And Granny my boss is most likely the nicest person you will ever meet. Fact I owe her a lot for helping me out. Annnd here it is, Doughy Delights Bakery." Mona said as she opened the door going inside.
At the counter was Edna Abbot or as better known Granny, she smiled when Mona came in though was a little surprised seeing it was the young woman's day off. "Mona dear this is a surprise to see you on a day off, Oh and who's this? Welcome to Doughy Delights Bakery young man." Granny said in a warm gentle voice and there was no sign of judgment as she looked at the reaper. Mona gave a small nodd, " Hey Granny. This is Izzack, do you mind if I get a snack or two for him from the back?" Mona asked. Aww the poor dear was hungry? No way could Granny say no. The older woman nodded with a smile, " Of course dear take as many as you need." Granny replied. Mona nodded and then disappeared into the back to get the snacks aka the baked goods that did not turn out right, they where still good to eat but not good enough to sell.
In the back where Mona's two other friends Derek and Lucy and both where a little shocked to see Mona come in and start to raid the snacks in the break room. M-Mona?" Derek said in shock, Lucy looked up but did not say anything for now. Mona looked over at him, "Hi just grabbing a few snacks, met someone at the park who seemed like he needs something to eat so brought him here. " The half fairy blinked, "Oh... ok.." He said as he started to feel a little over protective now of Mona and the bakery. This was something that was common around here where every once and a while they would give free hand outs to the homeless but one could never be to careful and he was ready to defend his friends and the bakery if needed. So when Mona went out front Derek followed behind and watched as she handed the baked goods to this stranger.
" Here Izzack have these on the house." Mona said as she handed over the baked goods to Izzack. Mona hoped this would make up for giving Izzack a scare earlier. When Derek saw Izzack he was a bit confused at how the stranger was dressed. But if Mona was willing to put some trust in the man he would to so he stepped back into the kitchen but stayed close to the door.

Oh.
Oh dear.
Izzack wasn't sure what he was expecting, but having a second person acknowledge him at all, let alone...this woman seemed nice, but...Izzack pondered for a brief moment if he could just run outside, and pretend he was never here.
No. He couldn't do that. It would be...well, it'd be very rude, for starters. Also, how was he ever supposed to get any better if he never forced himself into situations like this? It was about this moment that he realized that he hadn't said anything yet, and that he was alone for the moment with this woman. "Th...uh..." he settled for a small nod, and he flinched a little as he felt his face ignite into a blush.
When Mona came back, it was almost a blessing and a curse. He had a second person around to divert some attention away from himself...kind of, but he also was a focus of attention because of the baked goods. Oh dear. Still, he couldn't deny that the food gave off a near divine aroma, especially to a man more used to dumpster diving than fresh, out the oven treats. like some small prey animal, he cautiously snagged a flaky piece from Mona's offerings. He contented himself for a short while, nibbling on the food. It was...incredible. Not stale at all, and he didn't have to chew around any less than pristine bits. For a time, everything else seemed to disappear, and this little treat and Izzack seemed to be the only things that existed in the world. Needless to say, it was very nice.

It was clear by Izzack's reaction he had ether never had fresh baked goods ever or at least in a very long time. Mona was unsure what do and she looked over at Granny who just nodded over to a chair. Mona nodded back and sat down on the near by chair and started to pet Nova. Derek once again poked his head out to see what was going on and blinked when it seemed the stranger was in a trance of some sort after taking a bite of the baked treat. He gave a smile though it made him happy when others enjoyed the baked goods he made. After finshing with a cake she had been working on Lucy the half elf made her way over and also poked her head out the door to see what was going on. "Daww so cute~" She whispered when she saw Izzack's expression it made her want to go into a baking frenzy just to give the man lots of tasty treats! Mona looked over at Derek and Lucy, she then made a shooing motion with her hand as she did not want Izzack to get over whelmed when he snapped out of his trance. Derek saw this and moved back into the kitchen taking Lucy with him.

Izzack ate for a while, until he finished his little snack. When the last morsel was swallowed, he slowly came back to his senses. He hadn't done something silly when he was eating, did he? He...huh, he didn't think he had ever been so absorbed in the simple act of eating before, even those times when he was starving. Perhaps if he was tactful, he might be able to find out how he embarrassed himself this time. "That was...good. I sure hope I didn't look dumb there!" he blurted out with a quiet, awkward laugh.
"Jeez, very tactful." he scolded himself inwardly as he cringed inwardly.
"Uh...I mean...Thank you." he managed, his face looking more like a tomato by the second.

Mona had never seen someone look so happy before being able to eat one of their pastries. When Izzack snapped out of his trance he seemed rather embarrassed. Mona wanted to say somthing but was unsure so looked over at Granny who nodded, "No dear you looked like someone who was enjoying a tasty treat." Granny replied with a smile. Mona was unsure what to really say but it seemed Granny was not finished." In fact dear feel free to come back any time we will be happy to give you more." she said with a smile. Heh Granny was so kind to everyone did not really matter who or what they are. It was part of the reason Mona was drawn to her in the first place.. She was the first person to really show her any kindness.

"Heh...eh...ah...thank...hmm" Yes. This was...very awkward.
Izzack, while not panicking, certainly felt as though he had made somewhat of a fool of himself. These people were nice, but he couldn't help but feel somewhat uneasy around them. Was it because they were helping him without anything in return? It would make sense. After all, it was rude to not give something for a gift received, right?
Well, there was only one way to find out if that's what was setting him so much on edge.
"Let me...uh, let me repay your kindness." he offered, reaching into one of the deep pockets of his robe. He then pulled out something clenched tight in his fist. "It's not very much, but...maybe it's nice?" he revealed what he was holding at that moment. At first glance, it was merely a handful of rhinestones, a cheap offering, but there was a tiny bit more to it. Izzack had practiced magic on these stones for some time, and when the light caught them, they shone with ever shifting colors. "Like I said, it's not as good as what you gave me, but..."

Mona blinked when it seemed Izzack wanted to give something back in return. Though she gave a small smile it seemed Izzack really was the kind and pure hearted type. A little amusing for someone who was dressed like a grim reaper. But then again those animals back in the park really loved him and as they say animals can tell what kind of person you are. Suddenly the rocks caught some light and Mona saw how they seemed to glow or shine in different. "Whoa."" Mona said softly as she stared at the stones. She then smiled as she slowly walked over to Izzack and held out her hand. " Payment is not needed but thank you." She said as she accepted the stones form Izzack and gave a few to Edna as well who also happily took them and them up to the light. " Thank you dear, these are lovely." She said with a smile looking back at Izzack.
Mona nodded and looked back at Izzack, and decided to offer to walk him back to the park thinking he most likely may not want to stick around here. " So, want to head back to the park?" Mona asked Izzack.

The praise that the duo sent Izzack's way caused him to blush once again. He quickly lowered his head, subconsciously hiding a ghost of a smile. "I am glad to be able to give something so well received." he admitted.
Still, he was feeling rather antsy. These people were nice and all, but no matter how pleasant it was, he was not a fan of being the center of attention like this. As it was, Mona's offer was something of a life support, thrown to him as he was drowning in all this social interaction. "The park...sounds nice..." he offered, though he dared not move before she did.
