The City of Townsville- wait, wrong intro!
Out in space, an asteroid floated aimlessly near our planet. What was so special about this giant space rock? What if I told you that this space rock had something in it? Something dangerous! But then suddenly, another asteroid collided into it at such an angle that it went hurling toward the planet! Within hours, the now falling meteor hurled through the atmosphere at an alarming rate. And then there was a heart beat, the first of many for the traveler safely nestled inside of an egg. It started to get really hot really fast inside that egg, slowly awakening the still slumbering creature. Pieces of the meteor burnt off into the atmosphere, leaving only the black egg which was left to hurtle toward Astercity. This wasn't going to end well.
It was about this time that news about the "meteor" started being broadcast. But it was too late and on very short notice. Anyone looking up in the right direction could see it coming straight toward them. And since no one could predict where it was going to crash exactly, people started to panic. They either had to get out of the city as fast as possible, or accept their potential fate of being killed by the meteor. Fortunately, the atmosphere did a good job at decreasing it's velocity. And then it crashed straight through one of the taller skyscrapers, skinned another, and then "bounced" off the corner of a smaller building before it finally crashed in the middle of an intersection. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Frightened yes, but nobody died. Even after it crashed, everyone on the streets had gotten out of harm's way for the most part. But did it make a beautiful crater.
Now a more sensible mind would have steered clear of that crater, but man was an overly curious creature. And so it was only a matter of time before one by one, people began to gather at the lip of the crater to see what had crashed. There wasn't alot they could see, due to the smoke and clouds of steam from broken water pipes spraying the still super heated egg. It was hard to hear what anyone was saying because of the numerous alarms from car and stores alike after their windows shattered. "Noise... so much noise," were the first thoughts of the thing inside the egg. It quickly became aware, finding itself cramped and uncomfortable. It had to escape and so, began to thrash about until the egg cracked. This startled the crowd, causing them to all take a step back. Cold, wet- air! It could feel the shell giving way and thrashed about more, trying desperately to break free until the shell finally gave way. Once it's head was free, it took it's first breath and released a head splitting roar.
And then people panicked again, screaming things like "space monster!" The creature blinked, but not because it was adjusting to the light. But it was the first time they were being used, and what a startling sight. If one were to describe what it saw, everything was pitch black with faint outlines that formed shapes. But in the black darkness were many lights. Electricity coursing through wires, street lamps, televisions, and every living thing now running as far from the crater as they could go. And then it felt uncomfortable, it's abdomen ached. Hunger! As it's senses adjusted one by one, it leaped out from the crater and took to the streets. It didn't know why it's stomach ached, only how to soothe it by instinct. Pouncing on a random civilian, it pinned them beneath one foot and knelt down to sniff them. This thing was soft, malleable, and warm. It was confused for a moment when they stopped moving, knowing that they had been a second ago. The frightened woman was just playing dead in hopes that she would be left alone. Not exactly... the creature sniffed at her hair, briefly interested by the flowery aroma before licking the side of her head. She panicked, now whimpering in fear. The white metal creature reared back and titled it's head inquisitively. She was making noise now. Living, mobile. Prey? No. Not the right taste. Not what it wanted.
Fortunately for the poor woman, she was soon left alone as the would-be predator sauntered over to a car. This smell... yes. It sniffed at one of the many abandoned cars before taking a quick bite. The metal yielded without much resistance beneath those metal jaws. Yes! This was what it wanted. But the taste left something to be desired. Still, a meal was a meal. And so continued ravenously eating the car, ignoring the seats and wheels. Once enough of it was eaten, another smell caught it's attention. Not only a smell, but a sound. An ear splitting whine. This sound was frightening! The sound were sirens, cop sirens to be exact. Acting on instinct, it ran... straight through a building. Who put that building there? Flee! Noise scary! That was all that mattered as the creature leaped and attempted to scale the side of a building, only to fail due to it's weight as it fell. The sounds were getting louder. The scary thing was getting closer!
But then there was a new smell. This smell was... different. It's mouth salivated. Panning it's head, it soon caught sight of a large box with circles. It could not see through the box, but something about the box made it hungry. So it tried to ignore the scary noise and ran after the box! What it was chasing was in fact an armored truck, which was driving alot faster then it should have. It roared angrily at the fast moving prey. It would catch it! It HAD to catch it! Before long, it realized that chasing it like this was pointless. And so when it saw it's prey take a turn, it ran straight through a wall. And then through the rest of the building. It would head it off at the pass! Within several seconds, it crashed through the front of a restaurant and latched onto the top part of the truck. The truck tilted, almost tipping completely over as it sped on. SUCCESS! The creature dug in with it's jaws and claws, trying to rip into the truck. It was only a couple seconds later before the truck lost control with driving on two wheels, finally tipping over and crashing. Yes! It downed the beast! The creature leaped back on and resumed digging in.
This metal was tough, it was not yielding as easily as that other thing. Completely ignoring everything around it, the creature did eventually tear part of the truck off and swallowed it. It tasted strange, not bad, but strange. But then it's nostrils was filled with the scent of the contents of the truck. Something... delicious. Wiggling it's head through the hole it made, it discovered a number of gold bars. What were these flashy things? Flashy was good. Flashy would always be good from this point on. Using it's tongue, it managed to drag one of the shiny gold bars into it's mouth where it swallowed it whole. It pulled it's head out for a second and what could only be described as euphoria stretched across it's scaly face. That. Was. DELICIOUS! It had to have more! And it did have more. It frantically tore a bigger hole into the side of the truck until only it's tail was visible. It greedily gobbled up the gold bars one by one, wiggling it's body around for better positioning to do so. It was so enthralled by it's find, that it completely ignored the fact that there had been a driver and passenger... and the police were a block or two away.
