Relationship: Skylar Swift is Axel's best friend and adopted father. He took Axel from a lonely life on an uncharted island and traveled the world together.
Personality:
Axel is an excitable teen who can easily be described as an adrenaline junkie, though this doesn't necessarily mean he cares only about himself. While he says he likes to play by his own rules, he possesses a strong sense of justice and won't hesitate to lend a hand if friends are in trouble.
Still, he takes care not to romanticize such heroic ideals. Most of the time, he simply hates letting problems linger and would rather tackle them as soon as possible. This can make him come across as impatient, and to a degree, he can be. He values his time and freedom above all else; he's also never content with stability and is always in search of new thrills. This restlessness also makes him come across as a troublemaker of sorts, though he really has no ill will. He tends to maintain a cool and carefree attitude in face of adversity, but even he knows when to cut the antics and get serious.

Athleticism + Parkour
Axel is an incredibly active person. While he enjoys extreme sports, most of his skill shines through parkour. He's excellent at navigating through urban environments, jumping from rooftops or vaulting off walls to get around obstacles. It's ideal for chasing after others or running away, though he enjoys mostly using it to race.
Super Speed
Axel is capable of moving at high speeds, mostly through running. Since his power had only developed within the last year or so, he's still learning how to wield it properly. He mostly uses it in short bursts because his speed tires him out quickly. He tends to take power naps to make up for it. He's constantly working on improving his stamina however and is slowly increasing it day by day.
When moving at high enough speeds, he can generate a barrier around himself. He can use this barrier for ramming into other objects, dealing damage to them. This comes at the cost of causing Axel some recoil and ending his high speed, eliminating his barrier and making him vulnerable to the enemies he attacks.
Weaknesses
While Axel has quick reaction time at normal speeds, he has trouble using it in conjunction with his super speed. He simply can't see as quickly as his feet will carry him, which could fatally end with him running into obstacles or walls. Because of that, he can't sustain his speed for long stretches in Aster City's urban environment and will often use his speed in short bursts instead. His speed also quickly tires him, forcing him to nap more often than not.
History:
Axel had no memory of how long he'd been alone. He could talk, he could care for himself, but he just didn't remember... anything. All he knew was that he lived alone on an island. Said island was one day discovered by a pilot named Skylar Swift. The lonely Faunian befriended the man and quickly found himself enchanted with stories of Skylar's travels. Learning of his adventures all over the world, young Axel begged him to take him along. With no other family or inhabitants in sight, Skylar reluctantly agreed, changing the child's life forever.
Originally without a name, Skylar eventually settled on calling the child "Axel" from "accelerate," due to the kid's accelerated knack for catching onto things quickly. Axel's quick thinking had saved them both several times, and as they continued to travel around the world, Skylar developed a deep bond with the child he'd come to view as his son.
As the years passed, an old nagging injury eventually forced Skylar to retire, ending their worldwide travels. The Faunian was disappointed that it meant settling down, but when Skylar chose to retire in Aster City, Axel was delighted to find the place packed with excitement and peril. The extreme change in lifestyle was also a catalyst for Axel and triggered the awakening of his new power: super speed. Axel was thrilled.
One of the few things the pair disagrees on is Axel's schooling. Skylar fully supports Axel in continuing his adventures without him, but only on the condition that he complete his education up through high school. Axel himself has been trying, but he dislikes the stagnant environment, struggling to pay attention to lectures when he could be learning by doing. This has led him to skip class on several occasions, though one of those days happened to be the day the Templars attacked...
Feeling a mixture of relief and disappointment he was absent that day, the Templars have now taken hold of Axel's curiosity. He's picked up casually searching for them in his free time, mostly out of a mischievous desire to give a few grunts some payback. Until then, Axel seems to mind his own business, more eager to hone his abilities and push himself beyond his limits.

- He wears a digital wristwatch that doubles as a stopwatch.
- He has a fondness for animals and is surprisingly considerate about them.
- While he loves the city, he spends just as much time in the forest, often visiting for the fresh air or for some time for him to think. It's also a bit nostalgic for him, as his earliest memories were growing up in a forest - even if it was a little lonely.- Thanks to Skylar, he has some knowledge of plane mechanics and engineering, but not much.
