"Sean and... Julia..." Casey repeated quietly, though still audibly. "They're... still there, huh." He wasn't surprised. His face scrunched up into an expression of disdain.
Casey had actually tensed up at the mention of them; Sean specifically. He'd managed to ignore it when Taylor had been telling his story earlier, but to hear his name again... It raised a strange mix of complicated emotions. Sean himself had been nothing but good to him, and once Casey was trusted enough, he'd often go on missions with the man, usually covering him in a fight. And even after all the action had passed, Sean had always been there to lend an ear. He offered nothing but helpful advice and Casey had no doubt that he'd helped cover for some of his own blunders from the doctor.
And yet Casey couldn't help but feel betrayed. No matter what Taylor said about Sean or how much good he did, Casey only held a grudge against him. As far as he was concerned, Sean was nothing but a damn coward. Even if he had helped them out, at the end of the day he'd put his head down and do what he was told just like the rest of them. He didn't have the will to escape like Casey did, and Casey simply couldn't forgive him for it.
Julia, on the other hand, was a different story entirely. He... would rather not think about her.
...The same went for the giggling cat nearby. Maybe she was amused, but he saw little humor in being used as a pawn for such an embarrassing situation.
"...I see," Casey muttered. Though he'd drifted off to his thoughts a handful of times, he'd managed to catch most of what Taylor had said concerning the strange girl Jade. "Well... That's good 'n all that everything's workin' out for her, but..." In all honesty, it didn't give him as much insight as he'd hoped, though it did raise his concerns about Taylor's interaction with any of the family, period.
"If I could make a suggestion..." he started, shifting the weight from one leg to another. "I'd advise you to not see... Sean... again. It doesn't matter how helpful he's been." His brow furrowed. "Unless he gets his sh#t together..." A dark, knowing look crossed his face. "In the end, his loyalty will always be to the doctor."
