Both Taylor and Jade look at Millie when she starts to speak to them, asking them both to talk to the officers over there to give their witnesses accounts of what happened. Jade frowned a bit at that idea and Taylor did not really give much of a willing look ether. Jade looked at Millie though as if trying to get a read on her before giving a small nod. "Ok, I will speak to them." Jade replied.
Taylor was not really sure if he wanted to however but before he could say anything Millie started talking to him again. He blinked a bit when she thanked him for saving her, he then looked at her only to tense up and look away again when she started to scold him however. He listened as she went on about dangerous it was to run into danger like that, Taylor clinched his fists at that comment. It was HER that ran into danger in the first place with no real way to defend herself forcing him to have to act. Yet she was scolding him on that matter? He could hear the worry in her voice so he knew she was not trying to be mean but it still made him angry. Memories of the templar attack at the school started to go through his mind.. How he helplessly watched the school principal getting shot and killed right before his very eyes... He never wanted to see someone hurt like that again if he could help it. Taylor just remined silent though and just refused to look at Millie.
Jade watched the interaction with Taylor and Millie, she felt Taylor's anger and annoyance and felt Millie's worry and concern. Though she was unsure how to help them better understand each other. There was one thing she could do though.. Show Millie, Taylor's memories so she could see why he choose to try and protect her. Jade then did the same thing she had done before, but this time just connected Taylor's and Millie's minds. When she did that Taylor's memory's started to show within Millie's mind, the day the templars attacked the school. And what happened here at the mall as well. Taylor's shock at Millie's own actions and his desire to protect her from harm.
"We only acted to protect you." Jade said to Millie, Taylor eyes grew wide when he realized what Jade did. "J-Jade!!" He hissed in annoyance. Jade just replied with a small smile as she then severed the connection.

Millie wasn't quite prepared for the strange mind meldery, so when the whirlwind of emotions and memories manifested in her mind, she was... dazed, to say the least. Once it passed, she stood for a few moments, slowly processing what had happened.
"We only acted to protect you."
She looked to Jade warily. Did... she do that? If she was capable of that, then...
Millie winced. She winced at the implications of Jade's powers and she winced at all that Taylor had to witness. Of course the kid had seen some nasty stuff, but... no one at that age should have to deal with that. The fact that he'd acted because of that event... well, she couldn't blame him for what he did, but it still stung. It wasn't about being upstaged by a kid anymore; it was beyond that now. He acted because she was useless. The other officers often joked about being paid to sit all day while the supers did their work, but the reality of hadn't hit Millie so hard until right now. If she couldn't do anything herself to protect people and fight evil, then... why bother?
"I..." She started, voice cracking, unable to handle the surfacing emotions. Though her composure began to crumble, Millie cleared her throat, trying to remain cheerful. "I'm gonna go...!" She managed to croak out before rushing away.

Jade knew instantly she had messed up, all she wanted was to help Taylor and Millie better understand each other.. But all she did was make Millie feel even worse.. When the woman started to take off Jade ran after her. She was not sure what do to but she could not leave things like this. It did not take long for Jade to catch up and grab Millie's wrist. "I'm sorry!" Jade said. "I... I just wanted to help you both understand each other better.. I... I'm still very new to the ways of emotions.. I over stepped.. I did not mean to make you feel useless.." "This world is so much bigger then the place I was born and raised.. I.. I was alone there.. But here I am around many people.. I.. I just wish to learn about the world around me. I'm still learning.. So please.. .. Please forgive me." Jade said as tears started to form in her eyes as she looked at Millie. This would also be the first time she mentioned to anyone a bit about her past.
Taylor stood there stunned as Millie ran off, after feeling her emotions his annoyance faded.. They where very similar Taylor knew that now. "I feel useless most of the time too.. Fact if it where not for Jade and that masked guy joining the fight.. I most likely would have lost.. No I would have lost.. I'm not the best fighter.. I rather not fight at all.. These powers are more of a curse then a blessing... I sometimes wish I never had them.. All they really have ever brought me is misery... I.. I even got kidnapped once because I have powers." Taylor said as tears then started to form in his eyes He then turn away as he covered his eyes with his arm trying to stop himself from crying.

Millie stopped when she felt a tug on her wrist. She turned back as she heard Jade's apology, pressing an arm over her eyes to absorb any tears before they came out. As she lowered her arm, she peeked out, taking a long blink before sniffling again. She refused to cry, or at least show it - even if she was off duty, it wasn't an image very befitting of someone meant to protect and serve.
As the beastman explained her actions, Millie stared at the ground, still wary. Mind reading, or whatever it was Jade did, was a terrifying power to think about. To Millie, it was just another checkmark on the ever growing list of insane things that would forever keep the city's police department completely outclassed; that's what hurt the most. Yet Jade sounded earnest with her words, and Millie couldn't help but feel some sort of solidarity. She thought to offer maybe some sort of encouragement, but Millie's complicated feelings had her worrying that Jade's strange powers would pick it up as some sort of lie.
"I just wish to learn about the world around me. I'm still learning.. So please.. Please forgive me."
"Well..." Millie hesitated, slowly lifting her head. "That... makes two of us." She forced a smile, though her reply was earnest. "It's, uh... not your fault," she sniffed again. "People are, um... complicated," she mused, both the police chief and her grumpy superior coming to mind. "So it's... not easy to... understand them?" She offered, though it came off as a question more than anything. Honestly, she felt like she was bringing the conversation in a philosophical direction that she wasn't quite in right mind for at the moment. "Um... maybe let's just take a moment to, uh... chill out for a bit," Millie sniffled again, rubbing her eyes this time. "Then we can go back and report what we saw. Does that... sound good?"

Jade fell silent as Millie spoke, she was unsure how to reply. Seeing as she had already hurt this woman's feelings somehow though she thought it just best to stay silent. She did nod however when Millie seemed like she wanted to stay where she was at the moment to calm herself down. Jade then let go of her wrist and looked down at the floor. Where her powers really that unnerving? Was Sean nervous about her powers to? Was she.. Really that scary? Her ears drooped a bit.. This feeling.. Was this sadness? Jade then wiped away her own tears as she waited for Millie.
Mean while Taylor was forcing himself to calm down, he looked around to see if anyone had noticed his little break down.. Thankfully it seemed no one had.. Taylor looked over at Jade and Millie and gave a small sigh before walking over to the police that Millie had pointed to. "Umm.. I was told to tell you guys everything I saw.." He said as he then started to tell them everything that had happened, minus the parts Jade and him where talking about John of course.

Grateful that the strange girl agreed to a moment to breathe, Millie palmed at her eyes to get the last bits of moisture out of them. She'd looked around, quickly stepping towards a drinking fountain. She took a few sips, then cupped her hand out to catch the rest of the cold liquid, splashing it over her eyes. Again, she rubbed them, sucking in a deep breath of air all the while before letting out a long exhale. "...Right!" Again, she tried to be cheerful; even more so when she saw Jade staring at the ground. "...H-Hey, it's fine," She tried to reassure her. "Really." Still, Millie wasn't exactly at 100% herself, but it didn't quite sit right with her to be all mopey when someone else was, too. She started to walk on ahead, tentatively glancing back to make sure the beastman was following.
One of the officers began to take notes of Taylor's personal eyewitness account, learning of the culprits and the unfolding of the incident as a whole. After having all their questions answered, they thanked Taylor for his cooperation. Like Millie promised, it was fairly standard; there was nothing terribly exciting and he was free to leave afterwards.
It didn't change the fact that Casey hated dealing with cops.
The only thing worse than dealing with cops were the doctor's people. Honestly, he wanted nothing to do with either, and if he had to choose between them? ...He couldn't. Cop or not, the mind link was a paranoid reminder that any one of them could've been working for that man, and it was a sobering truth that Casey hated to admit. That's why he'd left the scene so quickly; the fewer who saw him, the better chance he had of staying under the radar.
...But it didn't mean he'd completely left.
Normally, he'd get as far away as possible, but a nagging curiosity compelled him to stick around and observe. He'd browsed casually in a nearby bookstore, using shelves as cover while he had watched the two he'd suspected of working for that man. He couldn't tell what had transpired when Roulette's friend ran off and the strange creature lady took off after her, but that left the third one alone. Careful as ever, Casey had moved closer to the front of the store, perhaps hoping he could learn something to help him continue avoiding the menace that stole his 3 years of his life.
Instead, he'd heard the kid quietly sobbing.
Given the strange acoustics of the mall, Casey couldn't hear much of what he was saying, and it didn't help that he had been mumbling either.
"...Useless... ...would have lost... ...not fight... ...powers... ...curse... ...wish I never... ...misery... ...kidnapped..."
Casey had furrowed his brow, unsure what to make of it. Obviously, the kid wasn't happy, but what really caught his interest was "kidnapped." It was... definitely a loaded word. Several possibilities for its utterance ran through Casey's mind. Each one seemed equally plausible, but in the end it was all just blind guessing.
Once the kid had collected himself and approached the police, Casey figured it was the best time for him to leave. He slipped out of the store, discreetly heading to the exit. Whatever he'd heard that kid mumble didn't matter.
None of it mattered so long as he didn't see him again.

When Taylor was done telling his account of what happened he stepped away but did not leave just yet.. He wanted to speak to Jade.. What was she going to do now? News of this was going to spread heck most likely would be in the news.. This would get back to John.. And she had said she was staying in one of his safe houses.. It would not be a good idea to stay there anymore after this. If he could he wanted to see if he could help her out in some way. She did save him today after all he owed her that much.
Jade looked up when Millie spoke to her and nodded when she wanted to go back. The bestmen silently followed after Millie over to the other police officers. Once there Jade started telling them her side of everything that had happened, of course leaving out a few things they did not need to know. She did notice though that Taylor had not left yet, looks like he wanted to talk. After she was done with the police she would go over to him. As she spoke to them though Jade would give quick side glances to Millie. Even though she said things where ok Jade still felt really bad.

Millie politely stood aside as Jade told her side of the story. Might as well be productive, she thought, eventually approaching another officer on her own and giving her version of the events as well. She lowered her head, mentioning her own attempts at taking charge of the situation, hoping to avoid seeing a smirk or a chuckle from the cop. She knew she had a bit of a reputation among the other officers in her department, but she had to share everything she saw... including her (admittedly embarrassing) confrontation of the two culprits. Nevermind that she'd be called in to another meeting with the chief about it - it was the lieutenant she dreaded seeing again.
"...Haaah." Millie sighed once it was over. "I... I think I need a drink," She half heartedly laughed to herself, emotionally drained. "And... maybe a tub of ice cream..." She muttered. She'd raised a hand to make a passing farewell to Jade and did the same to Taylor as she continued on. "I'm, uh... sorry," she apologized as she walked by, wanting to keep interaction at a minimum by this point. As she left, sluggishly pulled out her phone and called Roulette.
"Hey... You okay?"
"Yeah, but oh my god Millie, are you okay?!" The voice rang out from the other end, an edge of panic still in her voice.
"Um... yeah. Don't worry. I'm fine." Millie answered, a small, tired smile forming on her face. "Can you come get me...? I... I wanna go home."
"...Yeah, I understand." The worried tone settled into one of mellow understanding. "I'm already waiting outside."
"Thanks, Roulette."

Jade watched as Millie walked away and even said sorry to Taylor. With a sigh Jade also walked away heading over to Taylor who was waiting for her.
When Millie said sorry to him, Taylor blinked a bit but did not have a chance to reply for she quickly walked away, though Taylor did give a small smile at that. When Jade stood nexy to him he looked at her. "Jade... What are you going to do now? After all this staying in John's safe house would be a very bad idea.." He said. Jade nodded in agreement. "Agreed... I have been able to hide my true powers from him till now.. He knows I can read minds but that was about it.. When he hears of this though... " Jade sighed as her thoughts now went to Sean. He would most likely be in trouble to.. For his sake she was just going to have to leave without saying a word to him.. The man that helped give her a name and helped her out when she needed it.. She felt a ping of sadness just leaving without a word.. But it was for the best for both of them.
" Do you have a place you can go?" Taylor asked. Jade shook her head, "No.. Before Sean took me in I was homeless.. I shall be homeless again." Jade said. Taylor frowned and shook his head. " Nuh uh that's not gonna work.. On the streets John's goons will just find you.. You can stay at the the Guardians base. So you can lay low for while and perhaps we can help find you a place to stay." Taylor offered.
Jade smiled and nodded, "Ok, but for now we should head separate ways and meet up later." Jade said.
With that both then parted ways only to meet up a few hours later at a agreed upon spot.
