The mysterious white horse ( private)

It was afternoon and Mona and her friend Derek Abbot where being dragged along for a picnic in the woods. her friend Lucy Quint happily babbling on and on about a rumor she had heard. " For the last year the forest has stayed spring! Even in winter, and their had been rumors of a white horse being seen! It has to be a unicorn!" Lucy said with a smile as she would twirl a bit as she walked. Mona was not to interested however she was mostly tuning Lucy out as she listened to music. Mona honestly would have liked to stay home but once Lucy had her mind set on something it was hard to say no to her. Derek was giving weak smile as he was the one who got stuck holding everything. " Heh it could be, will be interesting to find out." He commented. He glanced over at Mona blushing a bit. He only really agreed to come because Lucy said this could be a date of sorts with Mona, he wanted to ask her out a few times but was scared of being declined and making the friendship awkward. Lucy had have coursed noticed this and being the hopeless romantic would try to get him alone with Mona or plan "dates" much like this one. It was a little bothersome but Derek just went hopelessly along with Lucy's plans in the small hope they will work someday.


After a while the three of them come to the lake that can be found in the middle of the forest. Dawwww!! This place is so pretty!!! A perfect place for a picnic, Come on lets set up~" Lucy said in a almost sing song voice as she took some of the things form Derek and started to set things up like putting down a large blanket for them to sit on. Mona and Derek started to set up the food and other things, when finished they all sat down and started to eat. Mona at this point still was not very interested but was eyeing the area. She had to admit the forest was pretty and peaceful, song birds could be heard and the sun was filtered through the trees and there was a pleasant breeze that made the trees sway. She kinda wished she would have brought Nova along now, but eh she was happy staying with Granny. Mona looked over at Lucy who was happily munching on a sandwich that Granny had made. "Soo... You really think this unicorn will even show? From what children stories say they are very shy and only show themselves to young pure hearted maidens. " Mona said as she ate her meal.

Lucy just gave her carefree smile, "Oooh I'm not worried~ We are both kind hearted maidens after all." Mona stared at Lucy giving a "pfft" sound, she did not really see herself as pure hearted... Lucy laughed at Mona's response, even though Mona denied she was a good person. Both her and Derek knew otherwise, once the three of them where finished eating Lucy stood up. "Alight!! Lets split up! I have a feeling that will increase our chances! Ready set... GOOOOOOOO" Lucy said as she then ran off into the woods. Mona sighed and shook her head as Derek laughed. " Same old Lucy.. Ok better get going see you in a few." Derek said with a wave as he too walked off into the woods. Mona was just tempted to stay right where she was, she had a feeling their was no unicorn here.. But with a shrug the red head also walked off into the woods.

Mean while somewhere in the woods was a lone Templar, Krea. She had been sent out alone to scout the woods to see if the rumors where true. Though her mind was elsewhere... She was thinking about her partner Cedric... Who was locked up after taking all the blame for what he and she did a few weeks ago.. She should have been locked up too! She agreed to go to the school but he had to say it was all his idea and he forced her to go. Cedric may be cold hearted but.. He still looked after her. "Cedric... Why did you do that? I would have been glad to take punishment too... Ugh...." Krea mumbled. Seeing as this was just a scouting mission Krea was not wearing her armor. She was wearing a white t shirt, jeans and black shoes. And of course her magic bracelet. She had been wondering around for hours and at times she thought she heard voices but she was not to bothered to look. Her eyes whoever where getting heavy as Krea fought the urge to yawn and was losing. She then came to a very tall tree. "Hmmm... A little nap wont hurt."Krea yawned as she then sat down at the tuck of the tree leaning on it, closing her eyes and nodding off to sleep.

Krea was not alone however, Atalanta was near by in her human form. She had been watching Krea for some time now and knew of the other group that was in the forest. For now she would stay hidden and watch how things unfolded.

As the three of them wondered around the forest in hopes of even just getting a glimpse of this unicorn, It would be Derek that would spot something but it was not what he was looking for. The half fairy had his hands in his coat pockets as he looked around. He could feel forest around him. So strong and healthy and yes he could feel the magic that was keeping it spring here. Perks of being a half earth fairy he guessed. Though he had kept this to himself not wanting Lucy to start shouting for the unicorn to come out. It was up to the unicorn if She or he wanted to come out after all. So for now he was just enjoying how pleasant the forest was and the soft breeze on his face. He soon came to a small clearing and saw something that shocked him a bit. A young woman who seemed to be passed out. Worried he quickly went over to the woman.H-hey are you alright?" He asked and put his hand on her shoulder and soon found that was a mistake.


Startled by a sudden awakening Krea woke up with a start and shoved Derek away from her making him fall to the ground. Derek was a bit to shocked to cry out and suddenly found himself looking at a dagger. "Ok.. That was a bad idea.." Derek thought to himself as his mind raced on how to hopefully talk this woman down.

Krea had been happily snoozing away only to suddenly be awakened, she opened her eyes and in the blur thought at first it was Cedric. But after blinking a few times she saw it was someone she did not know. Sudden panic shot through her she then pushed the stranger back and pulled out a dagger she had on her belt, she then pinned the stranger down holding the dagger close to his neck. He could have been wanting to do something nasty for all she knew!! " Who are you and what do you want?" Krea demanded.


Atalanta was a bit shocked then the sleeping human suddenly attacked and pinned the other. Though she could see the girl had been startled so she was not really at fault. But the unicorn was not about to let anything happen between the two over a misunderstanding. But she would only step in if she felt the danger of someone getting hurt was high. So for now she still stayed in the shadow's watching with great care.

Derek was now trying to calm himself down, going into a panic was not going to help but his heart was beating so fast he was not sure if he could slow it down. Derek winced a little when the woman yelled and demanded to know what he wanted. Great she must be thinking he was some sort of creep or something. "I.. Please just listen.. I did not mean to startle you. I was worried you where passed out is all." Derek said as calm as he could though the fear in his voice and eyes could be seen and heard.


The yelling had caught Mona's attention, wondering what that was she made her way to the voices. As she got closer she heard Derek's voice and someone else's. She picked up the pace till she came to the clearing and saw a woman holding a dagger to Derek. Without thinking she quickly entered the clearing pulling out her hand held taser. " What do you think your doing?? Get off him!" Mona said as she glared daggers at Krea.

Derek's eyes grew wide when Mona came this seemed to distract the woman however and not wanting this to escalate Derek called on his earth fairy magic. Soon vine's shot out from the tree grabbing Krea and it seemed the shock of it all caused her to drop her dagger when the vines pulled her up. Derek then stood up and kicked the dagger away from him. He then turned to look at Mona, " Mona its ok, please put that away. I was the one that startled her." said Derek. Mona blinked when Derek used magic, this was the first time she had ever seen him do that. " You.. Used magic that's rare." Mona commented as she put her taser away. Derek gave a weak smile, Y-yeah.... Anyway..." He said as he turned to look at Krea who was now glaring at him. " Please don't look at me like that.. I just did not want things to get out of hand.. Like I said I was just worried you where passed out, I'm sorry that I startled you. So if I let you down you wont hurt anyone?" Derek asked.

Krea was so angry right now, how dare this punk think of doing anything. When he said he was just worried about her she did not buy it. He could just be saying that to save himself. But suddenly another person came, Krea looked up at the new comer only to suddenly to be lifted up in the air by vines. "Ahhhhh!! What the!! Lemme go!" Krea cried out, she was now kicking herself in the butt for letting her guard down. She looked at her hand only to see she had dropped her dagger, not that it mattered her arms where separated from each other. If only Cedric was here.. Krea struggled but was not able to move much, she then glared down at Derek. He was magic user... Was he human? Non human?? After talking down the other girl he spoke to her again. This time Krea took the time to listen, looking Derek in the eyes as he spoke, as the saying goes the eyes are the windows into the soul. His eyes held no lie he had been telling the truth. Krea then blushed a deep red, "F..For real?? You where just worried??? Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod!!!" Krea sputtered from pure embarrassment.


She had tried to attack someone who had just been wanting to help.... "" I'm soo sorry! I promise I wont try anything I swear! " Krea said as tears started to form in her eyes.



Atalanta smiled as she watched this, glad that Derek was able to clear the misunderstanding. So for now she would stay hidden. Though her interest in Derek grew, that was earth fairy magic he had just used.. Though at first glance he did not look like a fairy.. So he must be a half blood, not that it mattered to Atalanta. In her home world there half blooded beings there too so why not here on earth as well.

Derek let out a grateful sigh as he nodded and smiled, the vines then lowered Krea to the ground who slumped a bit in a defeated manner. it was clear she felt bad for how she reacted, Derek could not help but feel bad. Though he was a loss for what to, something like this has never happened before. Mona kinda just stood there as well as she stared at Krea. That is when rustling could be heard and Lucy entered the clearing sounding very winded as if she had been running. "Ahhh...... Ahhh... Phew.... I heard yelling and came running... Haaa...." Lucy said between breaths as she regained her composure. "Sooooo whats going on?" She asked and her eyes landed on Krea she gasped and ran to the girl's side." Hey you ok? Are you hurt?" Lucy asked. Derek and Mona looked at each other, not really sure how to tell Lucy what just happened. Derek sighed, " I.. I startled her, drew a dagger on me. Mona came in distracting her and I used magic to bring vines down to hold her." Derek said and went to say he talked her down.



Lucy cringed when she heard the news. Oof! Sounds rough. Maaan I leave you guys alone for a few minutes and stuff happens! Oi vay." Lucy said as she play scolded her friends she looked back at Krea who still looked very down about what happened. Lucy smiled and offered a hand as she stood up. " Ahhhh let bygones be bygones! My name is Lucy~ That is Derek and Mona. Nice to meet ya." Lucy said with a cheerful tone. Derek smiled, Lucy was a pro at cheering people up. Mona just sighed and crossed her arms. " So what are you doing out here all by yourself?" Mona asked.

Krea just wanted to find a hole somewhere and jump in and hide away for a long time.. She had never been this embarrassed in her life! Soon someone else came a friend of the other two. Krea said nothing as she looked up at her. She was rather cute, dressed with a frilly dress and wearing a cute hat to go with it. She then quickly came up to her and started fussing over her asking if she was ok. "I.. I'm fine..." Krea said meekly. This was something new, having people this worried about her. The Templar's where very strict and if you messed up somehow no one coddled you. But they did care they just wanted you to be the best is all so you would not get hurt or die in battle. Krea blinked when Lucy offered her hand and seemed to forgive what she had done to Derek. let bygones be bygones. Ha yeah! Krea smiled and took the offered hand standing up. She had just met these people but she felt like they where her friends now. They would be the first friends she had that where not Templar's. Then came the sudden question of why she was here, " Ummm Aahhhh You are going to laugh... I.. Haha I came looking for the rumored unicorn, hahahahaha" Krea said giving a awkward laugh and rubbed the back of her head. "Oh!! And my name is Krea nice to meet you." She added not wanting to be rude. Though of course she could not tell them why she was looking it.. She was sure they would not take it well if she said she was with the Templar's they wanted to kill it.

The three friends all looked at each other when Krea when she had come to look for the unicorn. Mona gave a small smile trying not to laugh, Derek gave a big smile and chuckled a little and Lucy went into a full giggle fit. What where the odds they would run into someone else who was also looking for the unicorn? " Hahaha! What are the odds?? We are looking for it too! It must be shy though none of us have fou....." Lucy slowly trailed off as her eyes grew wide. Mona and Derek blinked and looked to see what Lucy was looking at and both gasped.



Turning into her true form Atalanta had come out from hiding , she smiled at the four before her and bowed her head in greeting. " Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you all. You may call me Lani. the unicorn said, it was not her true name she had given them. That was only for someone she truly could trust after all.

Mean while a woman with white hair was still holding back, all these people where making her nervous.. Why... Why did Atalanta have to show herself?

Krea was confused at the sudden silence of the other three, then however she heard a new voice. Krea jumped and turned to look and it was her turn to gasp.. The Unicorn was right there!! Oh wow she was so beautiful! The templar just stared in awe of this creature. She came here to kill this unicorn... But now looking at her Krea was now unable to make herself to kill it.. She just seemed to peaceful and elegant, not dangerous like her superiors where saying she was. "Ahhh wait wait wait no no no! never let a magical creature charm you! That's Templar 101!!" " Krea scolded herself. She needed to stay on guard.. Krea also needed to protect the others to!

However they did not know the danger they where in and would most likely get in the way if she acted now.. She would have to come back later perhaps with backup.

After a few minutes of stunned silence Lucy gathered her resolve and took a hesitant step forward. "H-hello its nice to meet you Lani, My name is Lucy and these are my friends Mona and Derek and this is Krea." Lucy said in a soft voice as if she was worried she would chase the unicorn off. Mona nodded in greeted, while Derek gave a small smile while giving a small wave.

Krea just stared as if she seemed to be awe struck, it was a bit of a mix really she wanted to hate the unicorn but.. At the same time now seeing her she just did not seem like what she had been told about magical creatures. So for now Kera was just going to stay silent and watch.. But if the unicorn tried anything Krea would not hesitate to take the unicorn down.


Mona gave a side glance at Derek who gave a returning one. This little trip to the forest was just amuse Lucy they had not really expected to really run into a unicorn. They both nodded to each other in agreement they would just let Lucy do the talking. It was her wish after all to meet this unicorn after all.

Atalanta nodded when Lucy introduced herself as well as her friends. She then met the eyes of everyone before her, she could see they where all good people. Lucy and Derek however really stood out to her, she could feel they had fae blood in them. Half bloods, not that it really mattered to the unicorn it was a common thing back home. In her world humans and the fae lived in harmony. Though as Atalanta looked at them it seemed they where hiding what they where, Lucy hid her ears under her hat and Derek was hiding his wings.

To be fair however she also had been hiding her true form mainly because at first she was unsure how this world would react to a fae. But they where of this world so Atalanta was confused as to why they where hiding their true nature. "It is a pleasure to meet you. However, may I ask why two with fae and human blood must feel the need to hide themselves?" Atalanta asked.

When hearing two of them where of fae blood, Nareen who was still hiding perked up a bit but still stayed where she was.

That question was a bit of a shock for both Lucy and Derek, so she was able to tale they where partly fae blood? Lucy out of habit reached up grabbing her hat and pulled it lower on her head and held it there. Derek gave a smile and rubbed the back of his head, he then looked over at Lucy who was now looking down at the ground. This has always been a sensitive topic for Lucy so Derek thought it best for him to take over after all.

" Ahh you can tell huh? Well... I'm half fairy and well my wings are to big to fit in most buildings so its just became a habit to keep the hidden. As for Lucy.. " Derek paused looking at Lucy for permission to continue. It was her story after all.

Lucy looked over at Derek then back at Lani and sighed, she then took off her hat to reveal her ears that had small pointed tips on them. She took a deep breath and exahled as she prepared to tell her story.

"I'm a half elf.. And well The reason I hide my ears is because I was always teased about them when I was a kid.. I was always called, pointy ears, knife ears and other rude names. Lucy said with a sad sigh.

Mona did not really say anything but she stepped forward to stand next to Lucy and put her hand on her shoulder giving a small smile to show support for her friend.

Krea mean while was stunned at the fact that Lucy and Derek where half bloods! She had been taught they where the most dangerous of magical beings and must be destroyed. But... Nether Lucy or Derek seemed dangerous.. When she had the misunderstanding and was at Derek's mercy he just wanted to clear things up and did his best to make sure no one got hurt during all that. And Lucy helped her feel better about the misunderstanding..

Atalanta was saddened at Lucy's story, things here where very different here then it was in her world... She looked at the four before her then looked back at where Nareen was hiding then back to the others. She had only met these four but being a unicorn she could tell they had good hearts. Perhaps they could help Nareen.. The poor child has improved since she started to live in the forest.. But she also needs more friends then just her.


" I am sorry you where treated that way young Lucy. It shouldn't matter how one is born, we are all living beings." Atalanta replied. Now it was time to ask her question.



"Young ones, I have a favor to ask you.. You see I have a friend I have been caring far and I think it would be good for her to have other friends, other then me.. If you don't mind coming every so often." Atalanta asked.


The three friends looked at each other and all nodded, Sure we wouldn't mind at all. We would be happy to help. Derek said with a smile. Lucy nodded," " Yeah! I will even bring goods from the bakery!"

Mona also nodded, "Sure". was her short reply.

Krea stood there as her mind raced, this was so different then anything she had been taught! She was a bit torn on what to do. But this also would lead to a chance to see how things would turn out for herself.. She was a knight of honor after all. " Sure I would love to." Krea said.
