It had been weeks now when John had found out about Jade and dropped in for a visit. Though Jade did not really see him or his subjects besides a few coming over now and again. She lived life as she always did before the sudden visit. She still walked the dogs in the neighborhood and would often visit the library, though she has most likely read over half the books there now. She also had been getting better at life skills such as cooking for herself and getting better at talking to people. Well now she sat in the living room of the safe house watching TV. Though was growing board of the show she was watching and there was nothing else on she wanted to watch. Her thoughts shifted to Sean she had not seen him for a while.. She had not reached out to him much after John's visit becuse she did not want to get him into trouble. Though now she found herself missing Sean.. As he was her one and only friend at the moment. Well she was going to take the risk. Jade closed her eyes and used her powers to reach out to Sean. " Sean? are you busy? Jade asked " Would you perhaps like to eat out with me?" she asked Jade just thought it would be nice to see him again. And if John had his goons watching so be it..

In the weeks after Sean's last visit with Jade, things slowly but surely had returned to some semblance of normalcy. As it was, on this day, he was given the simple task of delivering goods between safe houses, and making sure that the 'family' had everything they needed. It wasn't exciting work, but it was nice. Calm, relaxing. It felt good, helping people. He had kept an eye on Jade, though. At least, he had kept an eye on any news coming in about the house in which she was staying. Best to keep on top of things, after all.
When her thoughts once again entered his mind, he was slightly surprised, so long without the telepathic messages had worn down his familiarity to them. "Oh! Jade! Sure ting, lass. Where are ye? Where should we be meetin' up?" he thought, trying to think extra hard in case he needed to for her to be able to...hear it. As it was, he still wasn't really too sure how her powers worked. Best to err on the side of caution.

Jade smiled to herself when she heard Sean's voice, it was loud yes but she did not mind. She knew he was still unsure how her powers worked. " I was thinking about eating somewhere in the mall. As for where I am, I'm at the safe house. I can be at the mall in twenty minutes." Jade replied. She could just teleport but that still took a lot out of her and she rather save her energy. Before Sean could even answer Jade got up from her chair and headed to the door. Opening and then closing it behind her she used her powers to lock the door. It was the only way she could as she did not have a key for the house. But with powers who needed a key anyway?

"Can do, miss Jade. I'll see ye there, lass." Sean thought, a little bit less loudly this time.
Twenty minutes, eh? Sean checked the address he was at. He could probably get there in around twenty minutes if he took a shortcut or two. "Shouldn't be too hard..." he mused to himself as he got back into his van. Technically he still had a few errands to do, but taking a short break wouldn't cause that much of an upset.
Going slightly over the speed limit in a few places, Sean managed to reach the mall even sooner than he had expected. "I'm here whenever ya get here, lass. I'm waitin' in the parkin' lot." he thought as he began to wait beside his van in the parking garage.

Jade made her way through the streets ignoring everyone around her, not that she got strange looks much now days seeing as people have gotten used to her by now. But still every once and a while someone would point and whisper. As she passed by some buildings however a scream suddenly pierced the air. Jade looked up to see that someone had fallen out a 5th story window and was now hanging on for dear life. The people in the building where trying to reach the person but he was clinging to a ledge lower then they could reach and the people on the street where screaming or on their phones calling for help. Though how fast the man was losing their grip help would not come soon enough. Jade's eyes then started to glow as she used her powers on the man. He then started to lift into the air and slowly came down to the ground. Her eyes stopped glowing when the man's feet touched the ground. She then left not wanting anyone to know it was her as that would make her late.
After a little while she got closer to the mall and heard Sean's thoughts, so he made here sooner then she did. "I'm almost there." Jade replied, it did not take long for her to get to the parking lot and she spotted Sean's van. She smiled and waved as she approached " Sean, good to see you again." She said as she came up to him. " There is a all you can eat buffet does that sound good to you?" Jade asked as she then waited for a answer.

"Sounds splendid, Jade. I must say, I haven' 'ad anythin' ta eat yet taday. I figure I could test da limits of 'All ye can eat.'" Sean chuckled, waving his hand in front of him as a sign to let Jade take the lead. How long had it been since he had been in the mall for a fun, rather than under the doctor's orders? Too long, to be sure, if the memories were that fuzzy. Probably long before he even met John. Sean let himself think back to those times for a short while, then shuddered as some of the darker memories pushed their way to the forefront. Best to distract himself before he dwelled on certain things. "How have ye been holdin' up now, Jade? Have tings been good on ye? Learnin' some tings ye didn't know before?" he queried, hoping that the girl's answers would provide adequate distraction.

Jade smiled when Sean liked the idea of a all you could eat buffet, he had done so much for her so if she could help in any little way it made her happy to see him happy. When he waved her on ahead she nodded and started to take the lead, but suddenly she felt sadness and pain coming from Sean. She almost saw a bit of memory as well but it vanished before she could fully see it so all she saw was a blur. The shock of this sudden feeling caused Jade to stop, what was that she just felt and memory she almost saw? The old Jade would had asked about it but everything she has been learning about humans somethings where best left alone. If Sean wanted to talk about he would say something. Though these feelings of fear and sadness is something she knew as well... When Jade lost someone dear to her, the day she was freed from the lab and into a world she did not know. when Sean asked if she had learned anything new the young bestmen smiled and started to walk again. " Yes I have been learning many things by interacting with people, reading books and using this thing called the internet at the library. The world is so interesting and so vast, so much to learn yet so little time. Here we are I shall pay for the meal. " Jade said once they come to the restaurant and she then reached into her bag to take out the money.
Once the meal was paid for Jade walked in and found a place to sit, she then placed a table marker down to show the table was now taken. Jade's world had really grown from the small room and training room she once called home. She had met so many people and learned so many new things she wanted to keep learning more. The one who had most helped though was Sean and she hoped that one day she could repay him. Jade then started to gather her plate and silverware and started to pick out the food she wanted once that was done she got a drink as well and sat back down at the table she had picked and waited for Sean to finish getting his meal.

"Ah, I can-" Sean stopped himself before he took out his wallet. It probably wouldn't do to deny Jade this. After all, this could be the young girl's first experience with this sort of thing. "The internet, eh?" he said, opting for this topic instead of refusing Jade's offer. "Awful lot a' tings ta find out there, ta be true. Every day is an adventure, eh?" best not to say some of the downsides of the internet, and the downsides of speaking with strangers in general.
"Has anythin' else been goin' on, now Jade? People ye've met, experiences ye've had? I'm all ears." he continued to question the girl. This was nice. Talking with Jade took his mind off of a lot of things, including his internal struggle between his morality and his sense of duty. It was nice to have someone who had a certain degree of innocence, even if they were a mind reader who had probably experienced some of the worst humanity had to offer on a common basis, just by listening to the thoughts of others. Perhaps it was because Jade no doubt heard things others would rather not hear that she seemed so innocent. No matter what happened to her, she seemed more interested in the act of learning something new, no matter what it was.

It seemed the more she spoke the better Sean felt.. Whatever popped up in his memories must have really shaken him.. Jade then placed her hand in her pocket, her fingers touching a letter she had written. Due to her time in the lab she never learned to read or write.. But thanks to a friendly librarian at the library had taken the time to teach her how to read and write and one of the tasks the librarian was to write a letter to a friend. The only friend she has is Sean and he had done many things to help her. " I have been learning to read and write as well.. It was a skill set I did not need from where I came from. A nice librarian has been teaching me and... She gave me a task of writing a letter.. Here I wrote this for you." Jade said as she then took the letter out of her pocket handing it to Sean.
The letter would read
"Dear Sean,
I would like to thank you for all the help you have given me. I did not know the world around me and did not even know myself. I have been enjoying learning about this outside world and slowly been learning about myself. I hope to someday help you as you have helped me.
Jade."

"Is tha' so, Jade? I'm pleased ta here yer' doin' so well fer yerself!" Sean replied happily as he accepted the letter. "Yer handwritin's good fer someone just learnin' ta write..." he began to commentate, but as he began to actually read the note, he quickly fell silent.
A surge of emotions went through him as he finished the short letter, none of which were easy to describe. Along with the emotions, he felt something else, some longing deep down within himself that seemed to vanish nearly as quickly as it had appeared. "This..." he began. How could he put it? It was a lovely sentiment, and he was certainly happy to know that he had had such an effect on this young one's life, but putting such a thing into words felt...cheap. It felt like he was just saying something to say it. Frantically, he searched his brain for the right thing to say, but to no avail. "This is a very lovely note, Jade. I'm very proud of you." was all he could manage to say as he almost subconsciously pocketed the note.

Jade watched Sean as he read the note, she could feel all the emotions coming from him. He seemed to be overwhelmed and not sure what to say. The bestmen ate some more of her food as she waited for Sean to gather his thoughts. Though she felt something odd again from Sean but it was gone quickly. When he was able to find his words Jade gave a small smile, she was glad he liked the letter and said nothing when he put it in his pocket. It was meant for him after all so she did not mind that he was going to keep it. " Thank you"" Was Jade's reply. Though soon something caught her attention, It was the same mind pattern as those of John's family, Jade then turned her head slightly and glanced the room trying to spot this family member.

"Hrmm?" Sean mumbled, noticing Jade's sudden attention on the rest of the room. "Somethin' botherin' ye lass?" he asked. He didn't know whether to be alert or relaxed, but if Jade was still calm, so, too, would he be. His instincts weren't so rusty as to allow him to slip in that little bit of conditioning.
Meanwhile, the person with the brain pattern Jade had sensed was sitting across the room from the two. He was a small man, wiry thin, and no more than five and a half feet tall. He wore dark, simple clothing, and hadn't touched his menu or his glass of water, with its ice slowly melting. Instead he waited, and watched. Sometimes, he watched others coming and going from the place, sometimes he watched the employees work, but mostly he watched Sean and his...friend. He almost seemed to be waiting for something, but what he was waiting for was uncertain.

Jade had been able to spot the one watching them who was sitting at the other side of the room. Though she did not bother trying to read deeper into his mind. She then face foreword facing Sean as she then took another bite of her food. " We are being watched... A man on the other side of the room, small skinny wearing dark clothes." Jade said with her mind just in case the man could read lips. " Its a member of the family... But I don't think there is anything to worry about for now." Jade said as she calmly finished off her meal. Jade then got up getting a new plate and started to fill it with food, this was mainly to see who the man was mainly watching.

Sean didn't look towards the man for a while, and when he finally did, he did so with a subtlety that could only be classified as "over-cautious". Still, once he got a good look at the man, he might as well had seen the kid's driver's license. "Kyle Branch. Definitely not much of a threat, seeing as how he's one of the...less trusted of the family. Still...his presence likely means that others are around, perhaps in contact via radio, or the like." he offered, accent slipping for a short moment.
"Ah! But tha's no reason to let ting's get away from us, eh? Now, lass, tell me, what else has dis librarian of yers been teachin' ye? Have ye gotten around ta readin' any good books?" Sean asked in an obvious attempt to change the course of the conversation. Obviously, he sill had his eye on Kyle, ready to see when he would contact, or be contacted, by whoever he was working with. Chances were that once the signal, whatever it was, was given, there would be only a short time to find out what the intention was behind this spying.
