Well... at least they didn't seem to mind her, but... "I already told you that I've run out of personal funds." She frowned, though another bite of food quickly melted that frown away. "...There's no way I could help pay for all of this."

"Ain't nothing to worry about! I got this stuff covered! Far as I see it, company is enough for me, y'know? What's food without people to share it with? Also, what's food without someone to clean up after it?" Daniel raised an eyebrow to Dave at that last bit, the wide smirk on his face telling everyone exactly who was expected to clean up.
Dave sighed deeply. "Yeah, I get it, Daniel." he groaned. Then he turned his attention to Vivi. "He's not kidding, though. I don't know how, but dude has a ton of money. I think he's part of some money laundering scheme or something." he whispered quietly enough for Daniel not to notice.
"I fight crime!" The strange non-sequitur made it unclear whether or not Daniel had somehow managed to pick up Dave's rather quiet murmurings, or if he was just being goofy again.

"Oh. I, uh... I see." She shrugged at both men's sentiments, though Daniel had proclaimed the same thing about fighting crime earlier. Maybe it was just a metaphor for something? Then again, with his strength, she had no doubt he could play hero. Well, no, maybe not exactly play hero, but play something along the lines of one. Vivi recalled him saying he adapted to the city, but really, what that meant could've been anyone's guess. All she knew was that "hero" wasn't exactly the first word to think of when she thought of Daniel. A hero was a selfless person who helped those who couldn't help themselves!
...Kind of like how he saved her from starving on the streets. Huh.
Okay, maybe he was telling the truth. Why did she care, anyway? It was best to stop thinking about it and just be grateful for the homemade food in front of her.
After probably the most delicious meal she's had in forever, Vivi found herself yawning in satisfaction. "Ah... geez..." She covered her mouth, not wanting to be rude. "That was really great. Thanks... Daniel." She nodded, picking up her bowl and plate. "Uh... Do you just want me to put this in the sink, or...?"

"I'll get it, don't worry about it." Dave said as he began to clear the table. "Where's she gonna sleep, anyway?"
"I don't know. Was thinkin' the couch. I mean, you can hop into one of our beds, if ya want, Vivs, buuuuuuuuuut..." Daniel trailed off, knowing full well what Vivi would likely think about such an arrangement. "Do we got spare blankets around somewhere?"
"Nope. You used them all in that 'science experiment' of yours."
"Oh yeah! You should have seen that, Vivs! Damn thing exploded like the Fourth of July! But, uh...yeah, you can just borrow mine. We'll get some more tomorrow or something." Daniel offered, standing up and stretching.

"Couch is fine," Vivi quickly affirmed, placing her dishes on the counter near the sink. "I've learned to fall asleep in... stranger places. It's not too hard." She shrugged, taking a final sip of water from her glass before heading back into the living room. "And the blanket... isn't necessary. I can wait another night." Vivi reassured Daniel as she sat back down on the couch. "...It's fine. Really."

"Nope. You're gonna get a blanket and a pillow. No objections, Vivi." Daniel said before turning around and giving a thumbs up to nobody.
"...what are you doing Daniel?"
"Posing for the camera." was all Daniel would say.
Dave didn't say anything. He stood there in his confusion, trying to mentally piece together what Daniel meant, before visibly giving up, deciding the dishes were an easier foe to best.
"Wait right here, I'll get the stuff!" Daniel smiled at Vivi before running into the back room, and coming back out with a rather heavy looking blanket, and a small, firm pillow. "I come bearing gifts!" he said, dropping the items into Vivi's lap. "Need me to tuck you in, kiddo?" he offered possibly jokingly.

"Er... thanks." Again, when Daniel decided something, that was final. "But... uh... no thanks. I can get comfortable myself," she demonstrated, throwing the blanket up over herself before it gently floated down. "...But thanks again. I... appreciate it."

"Not a problem, Vivi." Daniel said in a voice that almost seemed genuine. "You have a good night now." he said, punctuating his sentence with a loud yawn, almost purposefully loud. "Now it's time to be a moron and yell nonsense online for far too late into the night!" With that, he retreated back into his room.
"G'night, Vivi. Hope you like it here, despite...you know." Dave said, giving a little wave before retreating to his room with a mug of tea.

"...Thanks again..." Vivi mumbled to no one in particular as she made herself cozy under the sheets. The couch was dry, the blanket was warm, and she didn't have to worry about someone trying to mug her while she slept. The pleasant scent of a homemade dinner still lingered in the air, and everything was... relatively quiet. It was... nice. It was nice to have someplace to stay. She didn't want to impose, but... in spite of all of his odd eccentricities, Daniel seemed to be a genuinely good person. A bit annoying, but still a good person. She was planning to leave in the morning regardless of what he said, but... maybe she would stay a bit longer. Maybe living with Daniel would make his insistence on fighting more tolerable. Yeah... Yeah, that sounded fair. She wouldn't mind a fight in exchange for a nice meal every night... and if she lived with him, there'd be less chance of an inane surprise attack. At least, that's what she hoped.
Or maybe she would just sleep on it.
Yeah, that sounded good.
