"...Huh?" Vivi blinked. "Uh..." Her brow furrowed again, but it was more out of uncertainty rather than contempt. "No, I... uh... What?" She rubbed at the soreness in her eyes. "Are you... sure about that?" He had been nice to her, but again, her suspicions were aroused. Daniel was inviting her to his living space. Most people didn't just do that - though, Daniel wasn't most people. He probably just wanted to be close to her so he could fight her as soon as she was well. He had said as much, after all. But to go so far as to suggest she live with him? Or... what if Daniel was like most people, in that his intentions to invite her to his home weren't so they could fight, but so they could...
Vivi furiously shook the thought out of her head, though that only served to worsen her dizziness.
"Urk... No." She clasped a hand to her forehead. "I couldn't." She paused, then cleared her throat. "I can't."

"You can't? Why not? You don't gotta pay nothin', and my roommate Dave wouldn't care. I mean, I kinda do weirder things than let someone crash on my couch on a regular basis. You'll be fiiiiine! Much better than sleeping on the sidewalk, hoping it doesn't rain, eh? Just come on, grab your food, and we'll give it a look. You can do that much, right? Give the place a look before you decide whether or not you wanna stay?" Daniel asked. He didn't seem to get the sorts of reasons Vivi would have against wanting to stay with a man such as him. He merely saw this as "Here's a problem. Here's a solution" nice and easy, without too much to think about between point A and B.
Truth be told, the thought that had crossed Vivi's mind had never even entered his.

"Hrmf..." Viveka grumbled. "...Well... If it's only to look..." She glanced away from him again, trailing off. At least simply going to take a look would give her another chance to decide. After all, she couldn't only imagine what a place belonging to a Daniel would look like. The strange little beef cupcake sure was an enigma to Vivi.
Though she didn't say yes, Viveka began to scoot out of her booth. As she reached the end and got to her feet, she shuddered, clutching at her stomach. "Bluh..." She grimaced with a small burp, plopping back down into the seat. "...Mh... Maybe not..." She hiccuped.

"Trouble getting up, huh? Let me help ya with that, Vivs." Daniel said right before he pulled Vivi out of the seat, and began to carry her bridal style, food box resting on her stomach. "Good! Just like earlier, only you're awake this time! Now! To my place!" he chirped before taking off at a steady jog out of the pizza place, and down the winding streets towards his residence.
In not too long of a time, the duo found their way to a rather nice looking building on a loud, busy street corner. "Here we are! Casa el me! Shall we?" he asked his passenger.
Without waiting for an answer, he charged up the stairs to his apartment, and barged his way in. "Hey Dave! I'd like you to meet that...oh yeah, he's probably working. What a nerd! You'll meet him later Vivs." Daniel said, shouting as he entered the building. He placed Vivi onto the living room couch delicately, then stood in the middle of the entrance. "Here it is! First impressions? Pretty amazing, right?"

Viveka had little chance to protest as Daniel literally swept her off of her feet, but it wasn't as if she could do much to stop him, anyway. Once his mind was made up, he would simply get what he want by sheer force of will. He was like a river, Vivi thought; a small, raging, abnormally buff river. His will was a rough, steady current, and she knew it was foolish to fight a water current. The best option - if not only option - was to simply flow with it.
As he barged into his apartment, Vivi wasn't sure what to expect. A hoarder's collection of inane garbage? Closets filled with Daniel's random disguises? Maybe a rundown gym space, at best?
To her surprise, it was none of the above. His living space was... rather nice, actually. She should have assumed so from the building itself, but... Well, Daniel didn't strike her as the kind of guy to be able to afford an apartment as nice looking as like this. Not that she knew exactly what the average apartment in Aster City looked like, nor did she know how much one was worth, but it definitely looked expensive... Huh. Didn't he mention that he worked at the pizza place they were just at?
Vivi was surprised at how gently he placed her down. Maybe she shouldn't have been, since he was nice enough to feed her and all.
"Here it is! First impressions? Pretty amazing, right?"
"Uh..." She looked around. "...Yeah. I guess it is..." She hesitantly agreed. It wasn't that she was unimpressed - she was plenty impressed - but rather, she still found it hard to believe. She was ready to protest, but the circumstances that brought her here were... Well, the chances weren't impossible, but they sure were slim. In fact, there was no way that this was actually happening. An offer like this...? To some lowly fighter like her? No normal person with a place as nice as this would offer a complete stranger a chance to stay with them!
But again, she remembered: Daniel was not a normal person.
Even when he had stopped picking fights with her, he still proved to be full of surprises.
"...Erm... Well..." Vivi seemed to struggle to get the words out. "I... I guess wouldn't mind... just staying the night." She admitted with a sigh. "...At least until my aches pass." She paused, then frowned. "I don't want to owe you more than I already do." Vivi added with a grunt, her tsundere prickly demeanor suddenly returning.

"If you think it's rad just from the entrance, just wait until you see the rest of the place! I mostly decided to rent this place for the kitchen, but the storage area ended up makin' a rad little gym. I'll show you that later." Daniel said, walking to the kitchen, just barely visible from the living room, for a short moment before coming out with a bottle of water, which he casually tossed to Vivi, and a brown bottle with the label torn off.
"Just the night? Far as I see it, you're good to crash on my couch until you can find some better arrangement. Ain't nothing to worry about!" He said, taking a swig from the bottle in his hand. "And don't you worry about owing me nothin'. Far as I see it, if you keep me entertained with fights, and show me a little of that grappling style, there's no need to worry about paying me in actual money. Trust me, I'm doing fine enough on money to cover anything you need. Oh yeah! Speaking of, what do you like to eat?" he asked as he sat down on the arm of the couch.
It was at about that moment that another man entered the apartment. "Hey Daniel, how was your d-Woah! Who's this?" the man said. He was wearing a rather nice suit, indicating that he had an important job, and with his short brown hair, and simple face, he looked like an utterly average man.
As the man entered, Daniel hopped up off of the couch. "Eeeyyy! Dave! This here is Vivs, the grapplemaster I was telling you about! Vivi, this is Dave, the boring roommate I was telling you about! Vivs here is gonna be crashin' with us for a while!" he said without even the slightest hint that he was asking permission from his roommate.
Dave looked like he was about to say something, but obviously thought better of it, electing instead to remove his coat and set it on the hook right beside the door. "...Okay, sure. What are you cooking tonight?" was all he said.
"Actually, I was just asking Vivi what she wanted. I'll let you know soon."
"Sounds good. Nice meeting you, Vivi. See you guys later." Dave said before retreating into his room.
Meanwhile, Daniel turned his attention back to Vivi. He hopped back onto the couch, and got awkwardly close to her. "Total nerd" he whispered conspiratorially before leaning back out of her personal space.

Viveka opened the cap off of the water bottle Daniel had given her and took a sip. This was... all so strange and weird to her. Dave didn't flinch at all at the thought of some random person off the street staying with them. Maybe she was right when she figured that there was no point in arguing with Daniel. After all, Dave's been living with him, so clearly he'd know him better than her, and the brief interaction she had witnessed pretty much backed up her suspicions. Forget his muscles: that kind of power was scary. For a moment, Vivi wondered just how horribly Daniel could use that power. She was lucky he just seemed to be content with fighting.
...Oh, wait, what? He was asking her... what she wanted to eat? Uh... hm.
"...Uh..." Though Daniel's invasion of her personal space was brief, she scooted away from him. "...Food is... kind of the last thing on my mind right now," She grunted, placing a hand on her stomach to remind him of the wings he had given her earlier. She took another sip, hoping to nurse her stomach ache. "...Bwuh. I don't know if I'll even eat..."

"Food won't be ready for a while yet, but I reckon I can make something light for you, if you ain't that hungry when food comes along. Probably a salad? I should have the stuff in the fridge..." Daniel seemed mostly to be talking to himself as he tried to figure out what to make for his new 'roommate'. Suddenly, he snapped his fingers. "Got it! Caesar salad! Nice and easy. Ey Dave! We're doing pasta tonight!" he yelled surprisingly loudly down the hall to the bedrooms.
"Got it, Daniel! Sounds good!" came the slightly muffled reply.
"I'll get the sauce started soon. In the meantime, wanna check out my home gym?" he offered, taking another deep drink from his bottle.

"Yeah... Okay, salad's fine..." Vivi mumbled absentmindedly. She wasn't really one for veggies, but something light and healthy would probably do her some good.
"In the meantime, wanna check out my home gym?"
"I think I'd rather just... sit here for a bit." Vivi glanced at him, noticing his bottle. "...What are you even drinking, anyway?"

"It's a brown bottle. Tore the sticker off because I don't want to do any product placement. They ain't getting money off of me!" Daniel answered unhelpfully, downing the rest of the bottle, and tossing it over towards a cardboard box marked 'glass' in the corner of the kitchen visible from the living room.
"Maybe I will let you sit a bit, but we should check it out sometime before it gets too late in the evening, eh?" he said, though it wasn't quite clear why he wanted to put a time limit on visiting a home gym.
after suddenly jogging in place for a short while, Daniel jogged into the kitchen. "Gotta get started on the tomato sauce, it's gonna take a loooooooong time to get this sucker ready and done!" he called from the kitchen. "Where're ya from, anyway Vivs? How did you manage to land in a city full a' freaks without enough money to get yourself a nice meal? Got any boys you like? What do you think of the history professor? Total hardass, right?" he quizzed her, suddenly dipping into school topics for some reason, as if he were a schoolgirl looking for gossip.

Viveka blinked. What was this nonsense about boys and professors? She shook her head, opting to answer what she could, though perhaps she should follow him into the kitchen. She thought it would be rude to just... yell.
"Well... About where I'm from..." Vivi started as she got to her feet, roundng into the kitchen. "...I'm not really sure." She frowned. She was still wary of Daniel, but she's already let her guard down this long already; might as well have kept some small talk going, she thought, so she took up a seat on a nearby stool. She pulled herself up to the kitchen island, folding her hands and awkwardly placing them on the counter. She wasn't used to sharing her background. "I mean... I was raised in a dojo in the mountains by my father..." She lingered on the last word, her face growing remorseful for a second. "...but I left home over a year ago. I've been traveling. It just so happens that this was the place I ended up before my money ran out." She frowned. "I, uh... I've gotten by doing... odd jobs for people, but..." Vivi began to tap her fingers against the counter. "It seems that demand is easily taken care of in a place like this..."

"Yeah, hard to do odd jobs when there's probably some 'hero' going about who's power is just "I have the uncanny ability to cut grass well". What can ya do, eh?" Daniel shrugged deeply over his large stockpot, which had a rather nice smelling smoke coming out of it as it sizzled. "Places like this, with so many freaks and what not, you gotta learn to adapt, y'know? It's what I did, and if you can do it well, you can take advantage of all these superpowered dopes." He was wearing a comically large white chef's hat as he cooked, though for what purpose was undisclosed.
"But enough about that. So you're a monk, huh? Should have guessed, what with all the 'Kya!', strikes, and grapples. It hard being a monk?" he asked, adding something to the pot before turning to face Vivi, a small satisfied look on his face.

Adapt, huh? That made sense, Vivi thought as she stared down at the counter top. But... what exactly did Daniel do to adapt? He seemed plenty strong, and he obviously had some sort of aerial ability, if their first fight was any indication... Or was his adaption just his uncanny his ability to just decide things and make them happen?
"It hard being a monk?"
"What?" She looked back up to him, frowning in protest. "I'm not a monk!"

"...You're definitely a monk." Daniel said, giving Vivi a decidedly flat look. "Watch, I'll prove it. Hey Dave!" he called out.
"Yeah, Daniel?" the boring looking man replied from around the corner, stepping into the room shortly after.
"Dave, what d'ya call someone who lives in a mountain dojo, is super good at fighting, and has tons of focus?"
"Uh...a monk. Why are you asking this, Daniel? What's that look for?"
Daniel, meanwhile, was too busy giving Vivi a rather smug look to answer his roommate. "Well there you have it, Vivs. What's it like being a monk?"
"You're a monk? Man, Daniel meets the weirdest people." Dave noted as he rummaged around the fridge, pulling out a brown bottle of his own.

"Wha- no!" Vivi objected, clenching her fists. "That's not...! I'm not...!" She sputtered, but quickly gave up and sighed. "Well, whatever you want to call it... It's..." Vivi shrugged. "...It's just how I've lived. That's all..." She glanced aside for a second, staring off into nowhere in particular. She never really thought about how it was like to live how she did, and she never really had any problems with it; at least, not until she passed out earlier...
"...Ah." She perked up suddenly, glancing back in Daniel's direction. "That... smells really nice."
