Relationship: He was best friends with Aedan Devitt, knowing him since childhood. Currently serves as an advisor to Casey Calhoun in Ammo Clan.
Personality: Laid back, cool and composed, Switch is normally the straight man to his friends' shenanigans. While capable of defending himself in a fight, he tends to avoid violence and physical confrontation. Otherwise, he usually remains in the background. He only intervenes if asked or if he sees that it's necessary to help someone out of danger. These situations are few, however: he's more likely to be offering diplomatic advice to others, attempting to approach situations as logically as he can. While he might sounding a bit dull in comparison to his comrades, being the most "normal" of the inner circle of Ammo Clan allows him to serve as an appointed voice of reason. (He's also a bit more hygienically conscious because of his nurse training - as evidenced by his constant use of a surgical face mask.)
Powers:
Hand to Hand Combat:
Like his friend Aedan, Switch took martial arts classes growing up. However, his dedication was nowhere near Aedan's: while he did improve somewhat under his friend's encouragement, his devotion eventually plateaued, along with his skill. This was also affected by Switch's other life responsibilities taking priority over a casual hobby. Despite being one of the less impressive fighters of Ammo Clan's inner circle, Switch still knows enough to sufficiently defend himself against threats. This is mostly limited to other normal (usually unarmed) humans, however.
History:
A normal kid with a normal life, Switch - or rather, Jayden - did solid work in school and bounced around a few extra curricular activities thanks to his parents. It just so happened than an enrollment in a martial arts class is where he met Aedan Devitt. Intrigued by Aedan's drive and enthusiasm for fighting, Jayden went along with the other's sporadic ideas, and the two became fast friends.
In spite of Aedan's enthusiasm, Jayden only saw martial arts as a hobby. Unlike him, Jayden remained focused on school, and - thanks to Aedan's antics - he hoped to aim for some sort of hospital career. Surgeon, doctor, even a nurse - anything was fine. With Aedan's recklessness, Jayden joked that he might as well be prepared for the next time he inevitably hurt himself in a fight. Aedan reassured him that he'd never get too injured, but supported the idea nonetheless.
Jayden would later become one of the founding members of Ammo Clan, nicknamed Trigger by Aedan. Though he had less free time thanks to his dedication to grad school, he still managed to make time to hang out with Aedan and watch Ammo Clan slowly grow. During this time, he managed to obtain his certification as a nurse - much to the amusement of the others until they realized how useful his knowledge came to be.
When Aedan disappeared, Jayden seemed to take it rather gracefully - not because he didn't care for his friend, but because he partly believes that Aedan was still alive somewhere. Knowing him the longest out of anyone else, he had a hunch that Aedan simply found something amazing that whisked him away. He figured no news was good news, though this is also partially denial and coping. Pained at the idea of his best friend possibly perishing, he did what he could to push the thoughts away. One of these coping mechanisms was adopting the new nickname Switch - from "Dead Man's Switch" (also known under "Dead's man Trigger"). This was to distance himself from the sentimentality of name given to him by Aedan...
Still devoted to the memory of his friend, Switch is still present in Ammo Clan to this day, watching over it and advising its new leader, Casey. He's been around less, however, as he has a full time job and more important responsibilities outside of the gang.
Anything else:
- The similarity between his and Aedan's names were often mixed up other people who knew them, so they tended to go by their last names: Adler and Devitt.
- He often has a surgical face mask over his mouth, though he sometimes keeps it around his neck.
